Default Imports

Hi,

I have just bought an import and the speedo is only in kmph (obviously)

Do I have to get it changed to mph or am I allowed to leave it as it is?

no you dont need to change mate

i would personally as i dont like kph

think bout all the LHD cars, they dont get changed

thats far more fundamental to driving here than kph

Depends what car it is. If it is 10years or older it wont require an SVA so doesnt 'have' to be done, however if it is newer than 10 years it will require an SVA test / Model report (if Jap).

It is a 2001 Mercedes V Class.. Bought it from a decent garage but got no import docs / SVA test thing with it

Edited to add it was a european car that has been to Japan and come back, it's right hand drive but only got kmph clocks

pretty easy really

100kph is 62 mph

200kph is 125mph

250kph is 156mph

a easy conversin figure is 1.6

so
kph / 1.6 = mph

I have a LHD Cossie, and is only in KPH. You just get used to the different speeds. As above, 50mph = 80kph, 40mph = 64kph, 30mph = 48kph and so on.
