if it's a 2.0 box it's almost exactly the same bar the output shaft on the rear being shorter in some cases

if it's the V6 box it will need both the front case and the input shaft swapping over from your box

i dont think so because they use 3.9 in the front and rear so it;s still equal on the vc

nope
everything is exactly the same bar the output shaft on the back end, the longer bit on some boxes (as far as i know the escos boxes in particular) is so that it can fit into the different propshaft doughnut but other than that, no difference whatsoever

exactly the same as a saf box same fitment, transfer and gears etc

only the escos had the longer ouput shaft due to using the thinner dougnut

i'm getting mixed up here.

what do you change to the 4x4 cossies to get the different ratios.

thought you used the step off gears in the 4x4 bos and the rear diff.....if so....what car are they from.

i thought they were off a 2.0 twin cam 4x4.

or have i had a drink or two two much.

so you use the 2.0 'twink' for the ratios then.

so...as my first post said....won't the ratios be different.

dave cos4x4

the gearboxes are exactly the same bar rwd mt75s

the diff ratios is where your getting confused

when you use a 3.9 in the rear of a cosworth if you dont change teh front aswell you will have to have a setp off gear in the transfer box to comensate to make the difference up as you will be running 2 different diff ratios

the normal rwd ratio's are 3.92:1 or 3.64:1
the 4wd cars use a 3.92:1 on the dohc cars only, be they badged xr or ghia
the rest of the range used a 3.62:1 diff front and rear
BUT
even though the 2.8 sierra's used the same ratio's, you cannot retro fit the 2.8 front diff onto the other 3 sorts of sumps (2.0 twinky, 2.0 cossy or 2.9 12V V6) because it's different and don't fit, even though some peole will tell you that it does
