Default quick bmw m3 question?

e36 m3 3.0 ,do they have coil problems?

mine has just developed a little misfire and the coil on no2 looks like its melted a little.is it common?they look like the original ones on it from new.

i have decided to change all 6 anyway as a matter of course as its one i have for sale(no wonder i dont make any money).

runs fine now.just curious....

We change loads of coils in here if they are made by bremi we replace all of them if they are bosh we only replace the faulty coil. All bmw's suffer from coil probs its our most common eml repair

I'd have checked the reviews before I bought one to be honest

the Clubsport tag is a flagrant misnomer. With 'Sport' and 'SE' already applied to the 3-series, the Clubsport name has been plucked out of the ether by a product/brand/marketing team with little imagination and a tenuous grasp of the heritage and significance of certain names. As a result they have succeeded only in making hard-edged dynamic promises the refined, smooth 330Ci can't hope to deliver. Worse still, the suspension tweaks and cosmetic add-ons rob the 330Ci of its integrity

EVO magazine

Only joking Andy. I had a 330ci for a while. Superb car. Just ate up the miles so effortlessly

LOL you slag! Depends on the reviewer of course, here is another:

"If the M3 had never existed, we'd be lauding the 330Ci Clubsport as the best drivers coupe available for halfway sensible money."

http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/car-reviews...t-1003350.html

but yeah thats the exact reason I bought it i.e. I'm doing 20k miles a year and wanted something that ticked all the boxes, and although a silver sport bm coupe would have done it, they're everywhere! So at least I get a bit of exclusivity with this (in fact it looks like your GT only more sophisticated ) and all the toys too (some fool paid Ł42k for this one fully loaded with sat nav, TV, electric lumbar on the 8-way electric heated 3-setting memory leather), Harmon Kardon 10 speaker/2 sub system, auto HID xenon cornering lights, bluetooth prep etc) as you say,

My EML light comes on amber and stays on for a few weeks then goes of for a while then comes back on. Could this be linked to the coil?

Dont think so coils usually missfire.
Going on for a period of time usually sounds like a lambda fault,Cranckase vent pipe leaking or something along they lines giving airflow meter faulse reading you would really need to get the fault memory read

Whats it come in for if done such little mileage? Sounds an A1 example though!

Can you only adjust the key memory settings at a dealer? When I last had mine in at BMW the engineer adjusted my passenger mirror memory settings so that when reverse is selected and the mirror switch is on either passenger or driver, it drops down! I want it back as it was ie only dropping down to kerb level when the switch is in one position and remaining as normal when in the other, but dont want to make a special trip to the dealer to do so... or is that the only option?

It just comes every year for mot & oil change even tho it dosent move the guy is fanatic about the car lol

You can adjust the key settings so your seat mirror ect move to your requirments but not sure how to do it.Most dealerships will tell you to read your manual or they will charge you
