As fitted to Lee (AKA Porkie's 600bhp Sierra), so I hope it performs okay .

For those that think the standard front diff cover must be "plenty strong enough for the job", so why buy one of Mike's?

They don't, they break the casing as well! However, these strengthening plates are designed to prevent the casing from flexing enough to do that .

It's a chicken with egg on it's face

Actually I dont know. But a well designed diff strengthening plate or a complete replacement cover like Mike's will make the whole assembly much more ridgid and less likely to twist & fail even if the CWP does break up.

On a standard diff casing?? probably a good idea over 350bhp??

on a Thickwall case like mine?? probably over 450bhp??

I am guessing though to be honest.

I always think preventation is better than cure....

Mike does a cheaper plate as well though and for the amount it costs, I would put one on anything over standard power really for piece of mind!

Even if you have a Thickwall case its well worth putting a plate in at least if you don't want to stretch to the full cover

Mike,
Sorry, I stand corrected, and providing you keep the ride height like this, you won't have any problems .

Also, until you car is fully equipped, I wouldn't speak too soon about the weight .

If you have over 350bhp and want to go launching or if you have shed loads of torque and go on track with slicks.

So what about all the other people that lapped you that didn't even take their car?

Mike why dont these come with a bung in them so the oil can be changed without removing the whole cover as it is quite messy, is it a strength issue ,as i have had one put into mine with a steel plate, and have had no issues and i dont get covered in oil ,and it doesnt take me long to change the oil!
