Default RS 500 Stamping Debate

I have just read April/Mays RSOC Rallye News where it states there would be a write up on the stamping issues in July/August edition. Well i have just read the newest Rallye News edition and theres not a mention anywhere of it. Whos hiding what here ? This has been talked bout to death i know but why say there explaining it all and then they don't ?

What do you mean by rs500 chassie number 1

This is old news about the stamp issues

I personaly have been involved in helping 3 people buy a 500 in the last week , and not one person ,,eithe buyer OR seller mentioned the chassie stamp issue , all 3 cars were checked for the correct chassie numbers to verify they were gen 500"s ( all were correct ) and all 3 sales went through without any concern on if they were up or down

,ITS OLD NEWS PEOPLE ,,,,,,,, As it says in The latest Rallye news , they were stamped up and down

It is great to hear the issue is understood, everybody is happy and we can rely on the RSOC statement, I do hope whoever caused this problem has been barred from the RSOC then it all can be forgotten.

hi peeps

this is my version i dont care what anyone says 98% of the floor numbers were shamped up

the 500 is an evolution and these were the 10% that ford kept back or maybe the last on the production line . They were all built as 3drs not 500

there are also 3dr's with GG chasiss numbers aswell

if the numbers are stamped down and they have the proper "ford Star" at the begining and at the end of the number then it is ligit ford stamped chassis number if its hasn't got the ford star at the begining or the end , then it's stamped in jobbie

what you have to understand with the stamping of the numbers when doing alot of cars the stamps have to be changed as they lose their sharpness and the production line is still continuose so the cars missed with the up numbers will be done later on

i was told this form a lad the use to work and it still goes on today

Marco

Thanks for your reply

Just one thing tho

Its a lot lot less than 98% that were atamped up ,,people would be amazed how many are stamped down ,,and there are blocks of cars that are all stamped down in succession , just one of the bits of evidence that was used to sort this issue

if you look at some mk3 fiestas, some of them are up and some are down too

the reason why, is the stamps last circa 1000 to 1100 cars so need to be replaced.....and they are every 6 hrs......this takes about 10 to 20 mins to realign in the machine (as they are not hand stamped by a numpty with a hammer) whilst the tooling is being changed the line carries on so ten odd cars go through with no numbers, they get finished i.e fully trimmed up....at the end of the line any missed items off the car or wrongly fitted parts are changed by teams including chassis numbers....obviously they cannot fit the machine in the car as it now has seats and carpet in the way so are issued from the underside i.e up
cossies like any other car chassis number did not run concurrently on the production line nor did they ever make ten in a row, they are built on the line as per order number...so they will never run in batches of specific models so the numbers up and down will be purely random, also if the chassis number of said shell had not been assigned or the ticket is ineligible or even ifthe stamp man decided he was rolling a fag or just decided to miss a couple for any reason.....he knew they would get picked up at the end (any excuse really to get 5 mins off that line lol )

so as you can hopefully see..........it is all just crap...!

No, the old engines never went back to Ford
Tickford did not stamp any engine or chassis numbers
Cosworth stamped YBD numbers(at Cosworth before they went to Tickford) they were put in random in the RS500's
i dont want to piss on your bonfire lol.but i personally put 100 of the old engines in the crates, and ford collected them.where they took them i dont know. i personally had to check the paperwork on 100 of the rs500 engines to check it went into the correct chassis numbered car.so you are wrong.
To be fair I did think Alan had worked at Tickford while the RS500's were being built but chose not say in case I was wrong.

Was disappointed with RSOC statement, the Passionford thread made far better reading

It was farcical too the way any thread relating to the up/down debate was binned on the RSOC bb and people were told not to post about it anymore......
