As above just wondered what people prefer and why, as i may be in the market for a thou in the near future.
I know its often a personal choice kind of thing but im interested in hearing any thou owners views on their bike and/or opinions on bikes they have ridden.
Its so hard deciding on what bike to go for. Based on looks alone, i really cant make my mind up between a zx10r, gixer thou, or the blade. Ill be looking at 2004-2006 models by the way.
Cheers.

...to me its speed...too fast and imo its not fun....i am happy with my 916sp power and the nsr250 power..you can ride both flat out and they handle superb.
..just think on what i have said. The bikes like the 98on R1 are stupid!

Listen in, do'nt join the crowd, by something that has a bit of soul. Get a 996/998, chuck some 50mm Termis on it and (IMHO) you will love it. Leave the jap crap well alone.
I've owned blades/gixers/R1, even test ridden some new Kwaks ( I also ride rather rubbish BMW's and Pan's but they are works bikes) and nothing has convinced me to leave Italian exotica alone.
Could not afford a newish bike so I've got a 2000 748, whilst I would not consider myself particularly quick, I can keep up with mates on the latest craze.
I am of course a small voice in a sea of apathy so will no doubt be ridiculed, but you did ask for opinions.

graham c, yes the k6 750 is also an option and i want to test ride one to see what i think.
If im honest im swaying towards the cbr1000rr on looks, however i may feel differently after a test ride.
The problem is theres just too much choice!!!

Ahh,
The old 'unreliable' chestnut.
Granted, very early dukes were flimsy in the electrical dept, but this issue was rectified a long time ago. You just need to service em as per the book, and this is where people fall down cos a major service (every two years) is around the Ł450-Ł500 mark, and it should really be done regardless of miles covered, and the minor service (ie every other year) is still Ł250-300. There are owners who just don't bother but if you get one with a good history then I would suggest that they will be at least as reliable as Jap stuff (and a damn site better looking).

on a personel level i like the zx10 but all the litre bike write up's iv'e read in the last couple of years consistently say the gixxer is a better bike on all levels. they can't all be wrong.

i have a Zx9r 2004 model, i love it... ive had R1,2 of them, and 996's plus a gsxr1000, but i allways come back to the most balenced reliable bike i have ... the 9R is a total all-rounder.. guts and power when you want it but also sort of refined when your nice to it...
tried the 10R and scared myself... but what a bike...

1000RR Blades are superb all rounder bikes mate, stupidly fast and yet still very easy to toddle around on if you like.
They are more refined than the Gixer or ZX10 and not such a handfull but at the same time they can still catch you out if your not carefull.
Had mine on a couple of track days at Knockhill and the only thing that could keep near me was the K5 Gixer 1000's that were there !!!! Them things are mental fast and def more hard core than the Blade.
I preferred the looks of the Blade over the rest of them and for build quality and reliability they are second to none.

Bikes are like cars as its personal choice, what do YOU want,
Myself i have a Vespa for winning the Cool stakes
I am picking up an 85 GPZ600 next month as its the bike that started this 'super 600' lark off, and really like the looks of the zrx1200, Its just how you drew bikes as a kid
But them Honda's are faster than Dukes, look \/
![](https://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/muatte/PICT0027.jpg)
But the Honda was getting beat by a Suzuki
![](https://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/muatte/PICT0025-1.jpg)
IMO the kwak wins hands down, I just prefer the looks and styling, handling and rideability there wont be much between them all I shouldnt think,
But these look like alot of fun, KTM 900

Buy ANY bike mag this year and you will see the Gixxer first in every respect in every mag.
Not like a car where all mags/programs say differently, there is a clear class leader.

Sounds and goes great, bit of a handfull in the twisties though! Never rode a TLS but I think they over stabilised the front end on the TLR, cause the TLS was twitchy (to put it mildly, lethal coupled with the rear sub frame problems!) Everyone I know reported only good things on the TLS though!

My bestest buddy had a TLR1000, then an Aprillia Haga rep, then a Busa, then a k4 gsxr1000.
Now he's got a TLR1000 again! Can't be too bad then!!
