Both are shit and most people only use it because they get a system that comes with it and never bother to look for better things, they just make do. Its those people who use WMP, MSN, IE7 and live search etc that crack me up. I can't understand why people upgrade to xp or vista when the time comes costing hundreds to get it and office when you can get it all free on Linux plus there isn't just one type of maker like a microsoft, there are lots so you can choose which one you want.
Linux does everything windows can do plus they've been ripping of the style with vista but still its not even 10% as good, out of the box Linux is very bare bones in look but you can customise it as much as you want but for Windows you have to install things like windowblinds just to change the theme which crashes it even more. I guess some people are scared of change or something new.
That WGA patch where they made it so you couldn't disable your active x plug in took the piss, its forcing you to do what it wants.

What pisses me most off about windows, is the constant pop ups it thinks you need. The ones that say "you have a wireless connection" even though notifiction is off, and "you've turned off updates" SHUT UP SHUT UP
and why does it put new windows on top of the one that your typing in
and why does it put new windows on top of the one that your typing in

Gentoo, Debian, and Ubuntu Edgy for me
I can't see what Vista offers me, I can do everything I need on a Linux box, it does it better, its faster, its more secure, more stable and it looks better
Other than this its FREE

However if gaming is your justification for Vista at present how many games are actually 100% dependant on Vista ?

The reason that POSIX compatible systems do not get viruses so much is the construction of them and nothing else...its a known fact that Unix style systems such as BSD, OSX, Linux, Solaris is vasrtly more secure than anything Microsoft turnout.
Evidence of this can be seen, when their services get denial of service attacks, they protect themselves with Akamai Technologies Linux servers as seen at the URL below, simply because they can not do this with Windows server :
http://searchdns.netcraft.com/?restr...sition=limited
With regards to Linux not supporting anything I am running a dual processor 64bit Operating System, Running a 64bit Office Suite, 64bit Graphic Suite and 64bit Browser which works with my other halfs iPOD, it sync's my Xda Exec.. I have a Epson Scanner plugged into it and a Canon IP5000 printer on a wireless Netgear printserver.. All working![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)
Compare this to Vista which currently has NO 64bit Office suite or Graphics suite available, Windows iTunes is not a 64bit specific application, the Xda application suite does not work in 64bit Windows even in emulation mode and drivers have not been released for the IP5000 or my Epson scanner with regards to 64 bit
With regards to cutting edge technology WIndows is behind the times... The latest 64bit processor technologys are here and have been for a generation. Linux64 is available now complete with fully ported 64bit applications... When is Windows going to fully support 64bit and have full applications support available ?

i am a solaris admin as well as an mcse, mcdba, mct,.... In my eyes the game has been lost when win 2000 came out and i cant see how the open source community wants to catch up with products that noone gives you support on.... Plus, all business software, as mentioned above, will never be compatible with anything with an X in its name...
keep on blaming MS and Bill but you know you will buy his stuff sooner or later again once you are done with the alternative way of thinking....

I use vista everyday in a business environment, tbh its faster and more stable than XP. Support is getting better all the time. 99% of stuff works now.
