yeah, they reckon £800 for the set. Stupid money. But yet again, are the bits gunna be available 5 years down the line???
Also, its all well and good having MASSES of power, but the tire can only grip as much as you apply the brake. Its like having V-brakes on slicks, they are MORE than powerful enough for them! lol

True but these deliver the power in moderation and you get alot more feel back through the lever some brakes like Formula - give you a slack lever so one pull and the front end will lock up. These give you the advantage of moderation with the knowledge there proably stop a 250cc mx bike.
Then saying that some DH bikes dont weigh far off that.
The suspension will absorb alot of the braking force too which tends to overheat less enginered brake systems.
Im sure this is probably confusing people if they just want to buy a good set of brakes.
Get some Hope - keep to British.. Get some discs with your name laser cut into them think its an extra 35 quid for that.

Boxxer - have you ridden in Vrbier / Alp's at all then?
None of the shops in Verbier sold Hope spares at all - plus the squeal did my head in on my M4's - this may well have been solved with the 07's, but my 06's=
I only went for 7's as that was what was recomened due to the ease with which you can get parts for, and how good they are supposed to be!
Suprised with what you have to ay about Formula's - one of the guys had them on a Hustler, and he was the only guy not get get brake pump-up in our group - everyone else had 7's , M4's (06's though) or Hayes and Shimano, all of which went on various desents
- its not stopping from 40mph plus which is the problem as both my m4's ans 7's are fine at this - its being hard on the brakes for 15 mins at a time
Any clue on the brake fluid idea too
Cheers

Why is it that my hope 4 pots squeal loads in the wet but my mates magura 2 pots don't at all?
is it all down to how the disc is made or which type pad is used??

its down to vibration usually, but pad compound makes a difference too. Gold Sintered pad squeal much more then organic, but last longer.
Rolls: I have ridden Les gets a couple of times, on my Mono M4's, and they were fine. I have no idea about the SRF fluid. I reckon it would be ok though as it meets the same requirments as normal DOT doesnt it?

Don't get out on it too often these days but Yes would be the simple answer,
but I have got the quick release bosses so it only takes a minute.

is there any way around this ?? or is it just a case of getting a decent bike shop to it once and do it right ?? never had this bike near a bike shop as i don't ride it enough really but if the brakes could be set up once and for all i'd be happy to it

you can get it very good, and ive done them and theyve not moved for months.
You basically have to remove the QR system, and replace with a normal canti bolt, BUT, then you have the problem of the pads always floating side to side and rubbing one side of the rim. They are a nightmare!

Only other complaint about the fighters is the ease with which you can ajust the rebound accidently

I know FOOK all. but want to buy a new bike to ride on road and in forests and stuff.... thats the plan. I reality I will use it once/twice and end up giving it away to mate/family member so don't to spend £25k on a NASA special

but its still a colnago! lol
Fucking ferrari crap.
How much do you wanna spend mate? i can supply you one if needed? we deal with Trek, Specialzed, Giant. They our the biggest brands anyway.
Are you after a hybrid? If so, check out the Trek 7100 (£280) or the 7200 (around £300). Obviously the more you spend, the lighter, and stronger (sometimes!) they get.
Let me know.
