Does anyone know what this is..

I took the cossie out 2 day everything was fine with no problem's then when i started to put my foot down it started to pop and fart and wont pull over 3000 rpm.

On tick over its lumpy and its puffing out black smoke on tick over and when you rev it.

its also got a very strong smell of petrol.

It's lumpy when it revs but when you rev over 3000rpm its fine. but if i drive it over 3000rpm its missing and wont have no boost and need to take your foot off.

has anyone else had the same problem or help with what to look out for.

check you havent blown a pipe off like a fuel reg pipe, or split/leaking

 

map sensor???

 

map sensor or the tps or the blue sensor at the back of the head it will cause this problem

 

where would the tps sensor be located and how could u tell

tps is sat on the side of the throttle body with the acelerator cable attached to it ..

 

how will i know if its not working.

would i need to try a new one or just clean it

the cable doesnt atach TO the tps, its the other side of the throttle body

 

have you got a secs monitor? ideally you need to check the throttle sweep/voltage

 

i haven not got one at the momet but thats the next things im going to fit.

the car has been find and it only started 2 do it 2 day.

its smells of fuel really really bad

i still think its the map sensor ...mine did exactly the same at national day last year..

 

will i have 2 change it 2 find out if its that id so il have 2 borrow 1 2 try

 

check the pipe on teh map sensor aswell make sure it hasnt come off

 

the pipe is still on but i dont know how u can test the map sensor or is it only by changing it.

 

defo sounds like the map sensor dude,



I would NOT drive it, until fixed.

find someone to lend you their's, then if it is, buy a new oine job done


again DONT DRIVE IT NO MORE

mine done exactly the same thing mate and it was map sensor have you got a standard one just to try?

 

Map sensor I also had this fault prob got water ingress .

sounds like map but can check tps with multimeter as if you were setting it up

 

yes it was the map sensor thanks for all you help its all sorted know i know what it is. thanks to paul 3 door rally slag for a lend of one and the tools nice one paul
