Default Tuning for...

Does anyone know where I could have my Mercedes CLK55 AMG tuned or possibly de-restricted for a reasonable price?

Been quoted £1100 for the above but that seems a little steep for my liking!

Also had a quote for taking it from standard power (367bp) up to 490bhp at a whacking sum of £16,000!

Any help would be useful

JJ on here has a mate with a tuned SL55 AMG, but thats not much more than a pulley kit and a remap basically.

Dont know anyone with your specific car though.

1100 quid to derestrict is fucking mental, its only changing 1 digit in the ecu on most cars!

That was my comment yesterday when I got a quote from a tuner! Thats to de-restrict and chip it! But the guy on the phone kept wanting me to get an LSD for it! I've driven cars with and without and I am not fussy either way wether it has one or not, but it just means a slightly different driving style.

Doesn't Phil/Bosch Man have any stuff/ideas/etc etc where is can get done ?

And whats this pulley kit malarkey about? I take its just a lighter pulley for the car? If so I know a few places locally that can machine and do the work for me. But personally I'm not really into pulling pulleys off and messing with a decent engine.

Pulley kit on the supercharged cars just means a smaller supercharger pulley or larger engine pulley (or a bit of both) to make the supercharger do more Plus obivously you fit a new belt and tensioners etc of course.

The change in size of the pulley basically changes the gearing of the charger.

Smaller pulley means quicker boost pickup, larger pulley means boost further up the rev range.

Check these guys out.

Gearing the charger to turn quicker (ie smaller pulley on it) actually increase torque/bhp all through the rev range.

That was my thoughts earlier wether it can be done by them!

As I said above its an Naturally Aspirated engine so no chance of putting a lighter pulley on an non-existent Super Charger!

Any info on this DMS company? Never heard of them before!

http://birds.uk.com/ I shall email them and see what comes up

Once again many thanks for your replies

As by Benni's post he does! But 18 bhp for 275 quid! Hmm not bad but that brings it to a mighty 385bhp! Not bad but I may have to call Stu if he can take this any further! Roll on September to get the car sorted and its power increased

When you do that it will end up costing more in the long run as you get what you pay for. You'll only end up paying for it in the end as my nan used to say.

Well done your nan Benni!

It may well end up costing me a packet but there are places which do the same services but at a slightly cheaper rate!

Your car mate! I'd be happy with what it had now seeing as I have 99bhp!

99bhp is an achievement! Yes I am ahppy with the car (even though its gone into the bodyshop for some warranty work and other bits) but me being me I want more! Gets a bit scary in the wet when the traction control light cuts in at 3 figure speeds (Thats on my local private runway!)
