Mk4 Crap*
Mk5 Better

* Get used to Kangerooing down the road on every change. Or make slooow changes to avoid it. Gearbox absolutely RUINS the car

i had a mk4 straight after my cossie, it was a fantastic car, a bit heavy on the front, standard brake pads were shite, so changed those, and fitted a cat back stainless, it made a superb sound, and best of all............ it didnt brake down like the cossie!!

they sound really nice when they go past

thing i would worry about is what they did with the suspension after the handling problems of the VR6
are they still very nose heavy and do they understeer when pushed?

Ive got a mk4 and they are shit! Seats too big for car for a start so got to *uck about moving seat backwards and forwards on runners if anyone wants to get in back. As above, front pads were shit so put some pagid orange in (much better). Sounds great but thats it, not very fast, can definately feel the weight in it and absolutley 5hite on fuel.
Spend the money elsewhere as theyre still not a cheap car.
ps, mines for sale if he wants it

I have a standard VR6 and it's not that bad really? not have as bad as i expected having read all the understeer related comments before i bought it.

Yes it will understeer when pushed, but most fwd cars will. And you really have to be driving like a twat to get it to understeer, it's not like every corner your left thinking fooking hell i'm gonna slide off the road here any min!

i think they have been tarred with the "all vauxhalls understeer at the firs sign of a corner" or the "all saab's torque steer like crazy"
it's just a common thought that is the first thing to go through everyones mind when you read about them
perhaps you got a good one?

I am VERY tempted by a mk5 r32.... should I jog on the recaro seats then?

I looked at a couple of e46 M3s but for the money they seem tired.

boring, fat, heavy, ugly, boring, slow, boring.

Wank.... far better cars out there, I can't think of a more boring "performance" car (except maybe a golf GTI )
