Default N/A MR2's

What are they like?

Say pitch one against my 230 S1, if i was thinking of buying one as a runabout for rwd fun.

hassle factor, petrol, power, fun, every day use etc etc

tell me what you can

Cheers

Pete

I had one and hated it. Good fun as RWD but uncomfortable to drive and with you being a jolly green giant..........

down a twisty b road, an N/A would leave the average 230bhp RST for dead, but on a dual carraigeway you will drive away form him like he isnt trying.

So depends what you want from a car.

For a bit of RWD fun you can't go wrong. I always thought they were a bit gay but RichPON took me for a blat in his turbo and I loved it and I have since driven a couple of NA's and had a hoot.

I found (might just be my driving) that they were quite tricky to catch when you overstep the limit. They seem too bite quite hard to remind you you're not as clever as you think you are. Glad it wasn't mine or I'd have been really worried

Steve - they are gay.

But I can park it anywhere and it still looks half reasonable. Mk4 escorts on the other hand.............

Sure, although I don't drive it everyday........ but it does the usual stuff a daily driver does.

Starts on the button, has never broken down on me ever, takes everything I throw at it (it goes sideways...... a LOT).

Only downsides as a daily is that the ride can be so hard that it gets on your nerves, and that's on standard suspension. Some of the goons have coilovered examples and they are hideous to drive.

Spec's good on it too. Bit of a fucker to work on at times, but otherwise one of the best VFM cars I've ever owned.

Thirsty though - big time! 180 miles out of a tank whilst cruising!

Thats why i thought about n/a and trying to hunt down a rev5 VVT, not quite turbo power but still quick enough with a respectable 198 ish horses.

shouldnt be as thirsty off cam if you know what i mean.

However a vtec would prob do the same and not be a bitch to work on

I think they're fucking brilliant!

I LOVE mine, almost as much as my RSTs. I get 350 ish miles to a tank in mine, seats are comfy as hell! Mine has 114k and has never, EVER let me down

Do it. Ł1500 quid will buy a very tidy early MR2

RWD fun? If you mean sliding around, good luck

If you want "RWD fun" and not just talk about it, get a front engined RWD car.

bmw would'nt be bad actually but silly prices for silly mileage sometimes, plus going for a quick one at say e36 it prob need to be a 325i at least but then its back into a thirsty motor as a daily.

e30 325's go well though
