you sure you are'nt trying for home insurance and they want a structural survey?
normally if its a standard swap then its not too much bother... and seeing as its just a CVH with a turbo taped to the side, i dont think its too much bother...
you could try and just say its had a turbo conversion... and see what they say... it sounds like they did'nt want to insure you! i can see why they would want reports if you had space framed it or something, coz they will need to know structural strength... but its a fairly standard swap!

Mine's with Adrian Flux, second car limited to 5000 miles, agreed valuation and all mods declared, came to Ł375 fully comp. I'm 27, full no claims and 3 points!

Hi swrs,
Just to clarify, most of our Underwriters will not require an engineers report for an engine conversion.
If you have an MOT carried out after the conversion that will usually suffice.
With the vehicle being extensively modified you may want to request agreed value as an option. There is an assessment process, but most of our underwriters do not charge for this.
Kind regards
Tony
Ps.. Many thanks to the rest of you for the recommendations - much appreciated
