Just a thought, but I would imagine with that amount already collected, in such a short space of time, we are going to raise a fair amount, rather than spend it all on a wreath, would it maybe an idea to ask if they'd prefer some of the money to goto a Research Charity or something?

'Any monies received after this will be donated to the a meningitis charity of DK_Saffys choice!! '
The ultimate decision of what to do with the monies raised will be down to Darren himself - but yes you are correct in what you say. IMO there is no point spending say £300 on loads of flowers when the money could be put to better use towards the funeral as a whole for example, some sort of a little memorial or towards the charity!!!

I dont intend this statement to steal any of Lee's thunder, as hes doing all the legwork here and deserves the praise but I think its worth mentioning to you all that as RC4 has now correctly pointed out, it's not only Lee asked if they could do something like this, there were a few regular members, and a couple ive never even heard of too.
Lee's request was simply opened first and agreed to before i read the later ones. I state this Just so that you all know its not isolated members that care about others on here. Makes me proud top be part of the community.

Ive just read some of this and ive lost the plot and im sat in tears. Its really nice that everyone is thinking of little jack and im lost for words right now...
I dont know the funeral arrangements yet ive not been brave enough to do do anything myself but will let you all know when it is.
I just really hope that no one else ever has to go through this ive been through some shit in my life but this has really topped it all ..
thanks again

All I can say is I'm astounded by the response....I think the PF community can give themselves a great big pat on the back - donations from £3 - £100 have come in so far & this is only on the first day!!!!
Lets hope the money raised can bring some happiness to Darren & hopefully it can help stop this happening to the innocent children in the future!!!
Thanks again PassionDoesntMatterWhatYouDriverEvenIfItIsntaFord. ...ers!!!

I'll be sending a cheque tomorrow.
Great idea and fully support the Meningitis Trust. My girlfriend had the illness when she was younger but thankfully the doctors caught it in time, so no lasting damage - but fully aware of how devasting it can be.
Keep up the good work Lee, excellent idea.
