FAST FORD PERFORMANCE FORD ARE THEY THE BIBLE?

soz mate i agreed to what that dude said if you bothered to read above instead of spouting shit about helicopter engines etc so try doing that before you jump to assumptions and makeing stupid childish comments ive been into the ford scene for 17 years and work for the company but im slowly loseing interest in them because there all the same either track day cars or done to look like that i meen what do you drive porkie i rest my case

i think the scene as a whole has moved on... those that remeber the rs turbos and cosworths that were styled more when they were 17 and wanted one, are now in there mid-late 20's... and are less intersted in styling and more interested in performance...
golfs, saxo's, 106's were all in the styling scene whn i liked max power (about 3/4 years ago...) and there was very little variation on them... the more tv's/exhausts the better...

For the record. I quite like your Escort actually. Its a bit different and looks well looked after
Hardly ground breaking stuff though and I REALLY can't see why ChavyFuckster was trying to put the world to rights over it!!!

To be honest mate, while Chavybumboy is moaning that cars dont get featured if they are different, I suspect with your car its actually a case of the OPPOSITE if it doesnt get featured, its actually a bit too plain and boring really unless its got enough going on mechanically to justify a feature.
I quite like it, so dont think im having a go, i just dont think people would go "wow I will buy that magazine" with that on the cover as its just a bit dull.
So where he thinks the mags are not featuring it for being "too different" its more like cause its not different enough!

My only comments on this is that there never seems to be very few Mondeo's that get featured. I know of two supercharged, one turboed, one MK1 citrene with ST200 gear that all deserved to be featured.
AND none of them are mine.
The other gripe is that there are very few ESTATES. My 200 estate is diffrent and quite a rare car but there seems to be very little info in the mags for guys with estates to follow.
But on the whole they are not bad magazines.

Different as in how? All very well being unique but whats the point if it looks totally ridiculous? Fact is putting a tuned yb lump is usually the easiest and most cost effect way of getting big figures, if not the only way?
Id like to see other Ford engine utilised, different things like supercharges, maybe married with a turbo like the new VW. I am sure if someone built these things the work that went into them would be appreciated and would get a feature surely the magazines can only feature what is submitted to them?
Surely there are only so many things that can be done before it becomes a case of been done before.
Arent there already engine bays full of chrome? My opinion is if the engine is pushing out 600bhp sod the chrome.
Apart from my waffle above WHY have these mag worth cars not been featured? Fast Ford and Performance Ford aren't psychic they wont knock on your door you have to tell them they exist and that you would like a feature...

I like the mondeo estates with the rsap kit on them as well!! Having owned a mondeo (st24) i used to browse over to the mondeo forums and as Stav said there was always something that had been done to them to spoil them....
I'd like to see my fiesta in a mag at some point soon and both ford mags have expressed interest, but like many others on here i build the car to how I want it to be, not just for a mag feature and not how others perceive it to be! It may be a little different and some may hate it but I love what I have done with it (although embarrassed to drive it )

fully cleaned upper and lower inlet manifolds, polished for flow
65mm mustang throttle body

Battery relocated to boot ready for either turbo or supercharger later this year.

Rest of the spec on the estate,
Runs on 19's
Smoothed bonnet with washers on wipers.
battery relocated to spare wheel well
JVC Exad headunit
2 X 10 subs in boot
80GB M station
Tints all round
The thing about the modding scene is that it is all down to the individual's taste and everyone is diffrent.
The magazines cater for, mainly, the majority otherwise they wouldn't sell that many of their own publication.
We could all sit here and argue over wether it is right or not but that wont change a thing. I think the bloke who started this arguement is upset because he he hasnt got a feature but thats TOUGH.
My bonnet was in Fast Ford last year on a diesel Mondeo so they DO FEATURE DIFFRENT cars.

To get that cabby in the mags i recon (sorry i dont no what engine its running) but if you put either a throttle bodyed zetec, ot turboed zetec in it, fiesta ST engine, focus ST engine or if you wanted to go mad, YB rwd it.
The outside looks good to me, very smooth and not cluttered, but what would you write about it in mag to make people read it. Not alot, theres only so many words you can write about the wheel conversion.
get a good engine in it (doesn`t have to be a 300+ monster engine) just something in it that wasn`t in it when i came out the factory.

EXACTLY!
With 6 pages of the mag to fill for a feature, and most people wanting plenty of words, there has to actually be enough you can write about the car in the first place!

again, the mags are called FAST ford and PERFORMANCE ford..... A while ago people were moaning that fast ford was full of bodykitted TV/sub filled cars with a set of wheels on, and a K&N filter and an exhaust.
Please don't take this as offensive, but MOST readers (from what I have read in the past, and im my own opinion) would rarther read about a big BHP car with an awsome spec than a mildly worked clean tidy mondeo/ escort cab with fairly std engine and running gear.
I personally favour performance ford over Fast ford, as they seem to have a better selection of silly fast cars, and do the beat the dorf section, grudge match sometimes etc
But in all fairness Fast Ford has got a LOT better recently, some very good tech articles, Stu@MSD's column is always interesting, and much as I hate to admit it so is Rainbums

depends what you call fast mate I like ST200's, but 240BHP is hardly setting the world on fire is it? It's only just over Std cossie power, and its in a heavier front wheel drive car. Again, please don't take offence.
I had a very fast stg 4 RWD cossie that was 370BHP, and had big brakes, loads of alloy tanks, decent suspension etc, all silicon hoses, loads of autometer gauges, but it was not featureworthy imho as It was nothing really out of the ordinary, but in the real world it was still a fucking fast, well specced, car compared to most things.

"when" my estate is done and dusted i'll be at all the sows, but i won't be upset if no one calls me up and sayd "you've got a right tasty motor there, we want to come and take some pics and give you a small section in the mag"
but then agian, i'll be made up if they did
(this isn't me dropping hints that i want my car fetured, but you know what i mean )

A 20% increase over standard on a normally aspirated car which parts are not readily available is quite an achievement.
You have RS Turbos featured with less power!!!!!!!
It is more of a feat to get the sort of power I have got from a Mondeo than it is to send a Cosworth away and get it back with 450BHP. IT IS ALL RELATIVE AND OUTRIGHT POWER IS NOT EVERYTHING

Will,
no offence taken but like I say the world and its dog caters for Cossies how many tuners do you know actually cater for the 200!! I am not saying that the estate is worthy of a feature just saying that there are some Mondeos that are!!!!!!

the whole post the guy started was asking the mags to see differant stuff but with you all spouting on about helicopter engines etc it got lost in text
ya cars might be more expensive porky but im not haveing a pissing contest as to who earns the most money etc etc i told ya i work for dagenham motors there hardly known for paying well but we could all buy a skyline if money was available and as for the cossie id love a workshop like reylands to work in fpmsl but in a little one car garage ( no electric, water or lighting u get my jist ) i dont think ive done to bad myself
oh and its running a s1 rs turbo engine so its not exactly standard power but then no one did ask that before jumping on the bandwagon of put downs
oh and by the way the mondy looks pukka mate

look at it this way, when they owner thinks its worth a feature but nobody else seems to, that kind of tells you that the owners got a slightly over inflated view of his car...

Agrred Stavros but when someone starts sprouting off about the cars needing to be fast then it all boils down to whos got the biggest wallet.
Sure mine isnt the quickest but how many 200 estates do you see modded??
How many Cossies, RS's etc??
I rest my case something diffrent might make a nice change.

i've read through all since i left
my points still being missed
as for you porkie pie i'm sure you eat to many, all you have said is 600 brake 600 brake it is that different from what i ask another cossie with 600 brake
if and when people do something different everyone gives opinions good and bad so really and trully we all build ours hoping the "in crowd" like it
ive used examples and people have said their opinions on that not my car met the guy last nite at southend
when i read the mags i'd like to see more than the average power hike and roll cage dressed up in vinyl i'm no t saying these cars dont deserve any of the apreciation theyve got
and for the guys at the mags i understand schedules and deadlines have to be meet
