Default Aeroquipped fuel lines..Do they smell??

ever since i've had the cossie at the new house ( in the garage ) i've noticed that i can smell petrol fumes from the rear of the car, i've got underneath and there are definitely no leaks

everything is 'quipped underneath from the pump/filter to the front of the car.

does it let vapour out at the joints or summat? or do i have a problem i need to fix!!

it's just annoying really....we have a door from the house into the garage, everytime we go near the area of the garage we can smell fuel lol.

i'm not paranoid, if it blows it's insured

although i do turn around everytime i turn the light on in the garage, just in case

They don't smell after time... they do it straight away As you mention teflon is the way forward, I changed every hose on my fuel system to teflon and it cured the problem.

So what's the difference between normal rubber fuel injection hose, and the braided stuff? As the normal rubber doesn't smell.

PTFE lined hose is the only hose to use for fuel to prevent this happening, and its expensive

I've used PTFE lined hose in the car like Chris S and there is no smell whatsoever.

Not sure about it being expensive though as I still haven't been billed for it yet

Yep....it's the aeroquip line for fuel......It was specified by Karl, who put me on to the supplier.

Check the connection to the tank....I remember it was a ba-tard to get on....... but the rest went on perfectly.

Did you remove any of the fuel lines when you removed the rear beam....???

To play it safe, I'd check all of the connections, as this will probably be the first time they've been checked since they were fitted at the same time as the new engine.

I used to check everything about every six months, but never got around to checking the fuel lines since I fitted them.
