My head been done (ooh err), it has been stripped, and been fully rebuilt,
I thought i might get the guys to do a light port on the head, its not going to be a mega spec engine only about 400bhp, is it worth it or not.
If so any recommendations on what to take it to, or do i leave standard
Cheers

at 400bhp or thereabouts the standard head doesnt really seem very restrictive, but cleaning up the areas around the throats is well worth while I would imagine as that shouldnt have any negative effects at all, I wouldnt open the ports up bigger though on that level of tune persoanlly.

Exhaust ports are crap on a cossie for power.
They will greatly increase bottom end pull, more boost lower down and at the top end if done.

The exhaust ports are so much bend that it reduces the flow, so getting them ported just a bit would help a LOT!
But keep it mild

Head work on opening up the exhaust ports will help MASSIVELY even on a standard cossie, at all engine speeds, bringing boost in much lower and harder, they are strangled as std.
I am running 288, last time will be more now as modded head, and T34, 48 housing.
My friends car picked up more torque when he had his done, and does not suffer asthma at the top end anymore.
Mine develops 150lb ft@2200rpm, 240lbft@3000rpm, 272lbft@4500
It made 271.2@5961 but power was still going up in a 45degree angle so would make around 285@ 6500 at 13psi.
I don't care about BHP but about torque.
I will be most interested to compare before head work and after head work when I take it for a fuelling check when back together.
My engine has 90,000 miles on it so not bad at all really.
