Default cornwall

i'm planning a long weekend away done there at the beginning of august.

there are some things that i would like to see and do, but would appreciate any input on whether they're good or if i'd be better off doing other things please

part of the reason for going is just to drive the S2000 around, so it doesn't matter that we are trying to cover some ground between different areas.

here is my rough plan, not necessarily in order, and where to stay over night is not decided.

drive down tuesday night possibly, or wednesday morning. stop off at the eden project.

go along the south coast to lizard point (i like to go to places like that that are the southernmost point in england etc, don't know why ) and check out the goonhilly satellite place.

go further around the coast to st. michaels mount

see a performance at the minack theatre on the thursday evening

further still to lands end for the same reason as lizard point

would maybe like a boat trip to either fish, or to see basking sharks etc

carry on around the north coast and have a look at st ives and i guess i want to see what all the fuss is about in newquay (as well as check out any surfer babes )

on the saturday afternoon we want to be in tintagel for an event and then leave after that to go home to go to ford fair on sunday

so, any recomendations of things to do, places to see, and b&b's to stay in? thanks

Defo get a look at St. Ives mate, its a beautiful little part of the world, ive been loads of times, and theres always something i discover that i missed last time. Newquays pretty cool, but to get the best you'll have to stop near the town which can be a ballache with the car.

If you do go to St. Ives, take the coast road out of town into St. Austell, you wont be disappointed..

the back road from st ives to st austell? wtf!?

they're at different ends of the county mate!

your week sounds spot on mate, can i come?

what colour is your s2000 i'll beep if i see you, [live and work near st michaels mount]

i've always wanted to stay in jamaica inn out at bodmin, don't know if they do B&B anymore but search the net for info. the first and last inn is another strange one out at sennen [just before lands end] never been in there myself but it's supposed to be very haunted and strange!

goonhilly is just ace and well worth it, eden, everyone i know who has been has said it's not worth it, but i haven't been so dunno. errr
can't think of anything else really.

the back road from lands end to st just then to st ives is ace too. fowey is just ace aswell, well worth a visit. much like st ives though but bigger. if you get time that is, fowey is quite away from the main road.

minack rocks, take a jumper though and some binoculars is you can normally see the dolphins!

oh and if your on the north coast port issac is lovely! - where doc martin is filmed. boscastle is like ten minutes away, but nothing really there tbh.

Wouldn't bother with St Austell at the mo... it's all being redeveloped, and half the town centre isn't there at the moment!

Fish and chips on the harbour in Mevagissy

Lanhydrock house is a cool place to visit.

Porthperrin(?) beach. Pub on the sand about 500m away from the surf.

i went to the jamaica inn - didnt stay there. had a meal and a pint.

didnt think much of the food altho the decor in there was different with money pinned to the walls

Heligan Gardens is good also especially if the mrs fancies some outdoor sex

i live in st ives, great place, st ives to zennor road...great fun at night done many many miles. also leads to lands end. any where along the north coast if you go from newauey to st ives along the coast raod through porttreath and gwithian, godrevy there all fun roads.

eden project is a good day out, extremly hot in the biomes at the top, wear good shoes as its a good walk. most importantly take your own food and drink its a rip off...but a nice day out all the same, i done alot of work on the steel structures there...

st micheals mount, park up at marazion beach and take a walk about, just dont get caught out by the tide its very fast, i uslally go there on boxing day with the mrs... local town is penzance, nice walk about if you have time.

truro city is worth awalk about see the cathedral etc.... would also recomend padstow, polzeath very pretty coast line. also as a tourist falmouth is worth a look, i love the place personally and go quite often, nice night out on the lash too.

best pasty is philps in hayle... award winning. pre order a large pasty in the morning and pick it up in the after noon, you will never buy a ginsters again lol. other good pasties are rowes or hansons dont do warrens there a load of crap or oggy oggy pastie shop any of the touristy pasty shops are crap imo.

in carbis bay just out st ives is a very good chippy callled becks, expensive but nice all teh chippyes in st ives are crap.

if i had one place to go it would be falmouth though. newquey is ok night life wise though just depends on what your after.

usual shi7 though dont leave anything on view in your car cornwall is quite but car breakins are regular even in our neck of teh woods

never been to it persoanlly we did the steel work for the building, think its in water gate bay neat st austall.

good palces to eat

halfway house in at rame, between falmouth and helston, they do a hungreymans meal very nice nosh.my pictures on teh cealing in there somewhere. eat it if you dare lol try the mixed grill

tyringham arms just outside st ives on the coach road they do a carvey on weekends.and good food during the week.

tricky dickies in redruth bit of a bugger to get to but worth it very good quility grub again the mixed grill is outstanding best ive ever had.

to be honest most place are pretty good if there busy, peppers in st ives do a nice steak in teh town or the mex is supposed to be pretty good but ive never been.

if you after a greasy spoon breakfast theres smokey joes in black water just outside redruth again a hungrey mans breaky is great there or cafe one at st erth between hayle and st ives.

hope you enjoy cornwall and drive carefully, the coast roads are fun BUT your not the only one enjoying them.... watch out for bikers in perticular cutting corners.
