Default fao painters re glitter / metal flake

started painting a few scooters lately as apposed to cars, mainly ones im selling etc im choosing madder colours with each one lol, thinking of doing a base of the yamaha r1 blue and a glitter/flake in the laquer

so how much glitter do you add per gun full of laquer??? i take it you have to constantly keep the gun moving etc to keep the flakes moving about??? any advice on painting with them? or does the flake go into the base coat?

seen this on ebay or is it still cheap from the local paint suppliers?
im not using water based base coat if it makes a difference

ah right see so you would mix up say quarter gun full of laquer with flake apply then 10 mins or so later blast it with clear coat?

in experiance what colour flakes work well with wich base colours?

how much flake per laquer?

just thinking of ordering a bulk amount of mixed colours from ebay and stooring it, as it seems quite cheap on there

yeah thats how i do it.

it depends how much glitter effect you want, trial and error really, it does go a long way though as i said it only really needs a dust coat

gonna order a load of small 30g bags of diff colours off him hes so cheap i might aswell, wife now wants me to blow over her escort cabrio in it lol, its allready in the workshop half prepped..im basing it in moondust so am thinking the gold hologram flake, do you wrekn one 30g bag would do a gun full of laquer? would that be enough for a dust coat for all over? or would i need a good 2 guns full dust coat for a good effect?

ie how much in a mixing cup would you use for a all over flake dust?

i used half a gun of clear/glitter mix, to do a whole car and the bumpers etc, 30g is loads

when your putting the glitter coat on ,take a step back from the car and float it on to the panels, if you try to put it on in wave it will become stripy or patchy

yer figured that id have to really dust it on from a good couple foot away to avoid streakyness

cool so a 30g bag will do a whole car then, gonna play safe though and do her car in the silver hologram flake with the silver base should be quite easy

thanks m8
