Say I have a server and website ready to go.

Whats the day to day cost of hosting a website with a decent amount of hits, say as many hits as PF ( the site in question wouldnt be running a forum though! )

Can vary greatly, as can the level of service and reliability you receive. Also depends on the amount of bandwidth used, images usually bumping that up significantly because people often don't bother to optimise them correctly.

Lots of cheap hosting out there, all making great claims at being number one etc.. many are re-sold packages and support can be iffy.

If you have your own server, then you'd be loking at co-located hosting which is a fair bit more expensive.

Use them too and they are superb, support is excellent, all web based (no telephone support), but the responses are usually accurate, to the point and timely.

I can't comment on their reliability or speed though, I don't have a website which gets that many hits and no to email me to complain it's unavailable, etc...
It's always been there when I've checked though
