Default Anyone used full slick tyres on track?

Does anyone use full slicks on track ? If so, where from and how long do they last?

I was at Knockhill yesterday in my Gtir, and tere was an EVO running full slicks and was absolutly lightening fast round corners, was just wondering if any of you guys have used them.

Could fancy a 2nd set of wheels with slicks, but have no idea how long to expect them to last, Ive seen them somewhere for about £230 a corner.

PM Marco on here.... He will sort you some used ones and ALOT cheaper than £230 each.

They are on another planet to any road tyres and that includes stuff like the Dunlop D02 and the Toyo R888.

They WILL put alot more stress on the car though....

As for how long they will last??? hard to say but certainly 2-3 trackdays as a minimum I would think on your car.

thanks for that, you reckon itl be stuff like wheel bearings that would take a hit? Grip isnt a bad thing, but i know what you mean.

Was that you at knockhill yesterday in a R34 ?

you "may" suffer oil surge too, unless you have a baffled (atleast) sump

your corner speeds "may" be much higher causing the above

i said MAY as it depends how you drive

I run michelin full slicks on my track car, the difference on a good track with high speed corners ,croft etc is amazing, I have done 2 track days with mine and the have virtually no wear so far

at donno in a couple of weeks so I hope it's dry!

I got mine from ears motorsport in macclesfield, I run an odd size 16" tyre and because of that they are very cheap, I paid £62 each for mine brand new!!

Cheers for the replys guys, Ive read on MLR that the slicks will put a lot more stress on the car, anyone any thoughts on this?

Im going to find myself some 16" track wheels and get some slicks put on them, id like 195/50/16, but the sizes of slicks are weird, anyone know what the difference in tyrewall sizes are?

Cheers !

16" is obsolete for slicks for track use, i supply most of the MLR boys with 235/610x 17" ex touring car slicks , like Marco does as well , im cheaper tho
