Snowboarding in Whistler...
Has anyone been? I'm looking to go for a couple of weeks next year with a few mates so any advice on where to stay, what time of year is best to go etc would be great!

Thats at Tamworth snowdome If I were you, i'd do the learning at the Snowdome (they run full day courses etc). Then when you are on holiday you can spend the week enjoying the mountain instead of keeping to the nursary slopes.
Also you will hurt and ache lots when learning, so you will spend all holiday knackered and in pain if you do it on holiday!

They do board in a day for Ł150 which is well worth it.
Snowboarding can be the must frustrating thing in the world to learn but once you get it you can look like a pro within no time.
I advise board in a day and then keep going back for more and more lessons as many as you can afford.
Also on your first holiday get some lessons for at least the first day or two even it is just to learn how to use a pull lift for that rare occaison you got to use one!
Always wear the followig:
Helmet (safety and keeps your head warm)
Googles ( don't be a cunt and try and wear sunglasses )
WRIST GUARDS
Padded knee pads (saves the knees and keeps them warm)
Impact shorts
Back protector if your a mental fucker

Have yet to do Whistler, have been to Banff which covers Sunshine Village, Banff(Norquay) & Lake Louise both in January and in March.
January was very cold as cold as -14 which with windchill factor was as lower than -40
March was a far better warmer more sunshine.
Worthwhile checking out Banff its got everything you could possibly want from a holiday, whether your boarding or not.

Now we just need to find a decent chalet for 8 people with a hot tub for less than Ł400 each for 14 nights

Hi Phil,
I have stayed in Whistler
Its split into two parts - Upper Whistler & Whistler village,
The Village is where its at - all built pretty recently with a big square in the centre with loads of bars & restaurants.
If its chalet you are looking for you my find yourself in upper area. There are bars etc there but its only a 10 min walk the square.
I stayed at the Fairmont Chateau
http://www.fairmont.com/Whistler/?cm...ateau+whistler
but that was only for the wife & I
Will ask my pal who also rented a chalet - he might have the datails still
You WILL have a fantastic holiday

Thinking of America or Canada myself next year for me and my lad. What does say Whistler compare to something like the three vallies in France ?

If you could ask him that would be great! The place you stayed looks a bit posh for me
We are thinking we will have to stay slightly away from the village to cut down on costs, plus we'd rather have a chalet that be in an appartment, as we tend to eat in mostly when abroad, but I do like to frequent the apres ski

Well, we have booked the accommodation!
8 person house (3 bedroom, 2 bathroom) literally 2 minutes walk from all the bars and across the road form shops. 5 mins from the main Whistler gondolas by foot with outdoor heated pool and hot-tub, plus a private 6 person hot tub on the balcony of the master bedroom.
Ł322 per person for 14 nights (for 7 people)
