been in a very old m5 with a fuckin maniac, went around a large motorway style roundabout with 4 people in the car with so much opposite lock that we were almost facing back where we had just came from,so you could say it was a beautifully balanced car imo

ive driven the last shape M5,the V8 engined 1,was very nice drive and quick but with the traction control on it does kill the acceleration quite a bit compared with it turned off,the only thing i didnt like was the back end felt very floaty and all i could put it down 2 was the rear subframe bushes flexing but still a lovely drive

I used to own a e39 M5 ... it was probably one of the best cars I have ever owned - one of the few cars I regret selling. Apart from a few little electrical niggles it was always spot on. Good performance for its size

Up until a few weeks ago I owned a e60 m5 which was a better car in most areas; performance, handling, etc. etc. but I didn't get on too well with it ... mainly because the gearbox was fooked after 4 days of owning it Wasn't over keen on the looks either; front end was okay but the back end is just so wrong.

the carjust rev'd its pants off,,,, never seemed to get out of first gear he took it to auto gearbox specialist to be told " M5's are sports cars,,,, you have to change gear manually "

sorry but most bmw's are autos so its not unusual for the owners to get confused

It wouldn't select gears, then I would get stuck in third, than neutral .. I think it was a hydraulic actuator playing up ... stupid SMG, its all hidden inside the bell housing and considering it was only 4 days old at the time I couldn't be bothered with pulling anything apart. Damn dealer took about 2 weeks to sort it out as well

The car was very good to drive, quite brisk, very comfortable, handled well ... lots of electronic gadgets to play with. Its just I cant take the the rear end of the car, looking back I shouldn't have bought it but it was a bit of an impulse purchase
