Mondeo Radiator Fans!!!
Today i finally got my new radiator fan mounted into the shroud as one was stuffed, thinking this was why my fans were'nt coming on. Now the fans motors are all ok still nothing. Its not a fuse or a relay so im down to ECU or something in the wiring? Apparently it could also be the coolant temprature sensor but im assuming thats ok as the dial inside the car tells me the engines getting hot???
If no one has any other ideas what im after is anyone who has a diagram or can explain how to wire a switch in the cabin to the battery straight to the fans.
Thanks Nick

The temp guage sender is not the same one as the ECU temp sender.
I am sure that you will find the ECU controls the fans on mondies, or at least on autos it does.
If you pull off the plug on the sender in the thermostat housing the fans should run all the time, so see if they do ?

Ah right helps if i turn the page in the haynes manual Ill have a look at the coolant tempature sensor. Is it ok to do that plug thing and have the fans running all the time, i take it they stop when the engines off if you do that?
Sorry if any of this seems stupid but when it comes to cars thats exactly what i am

No only ok to test as the plug goes onto the temp sender for the ecu, and will make it go into a LOS mode, which is a basic warm engine setting mode, won't go well.
The plug is on the thermostat housing on the end of the head by battery end.

My mondeo is a mk2 R reg.
Why is it that some of the cooling fans are twin and some are single? I just assumed that the 1.6 was a single fan and the rest were twin but it seems that some 2ltrs and 1.8ltrs has single fans, so whats with the twin in some?

sorry to bring this back up but the problem is still there! The last possible problem is now that it has to be the ecu, so my question is rig up a switch in the cabin or get an ecu out of the mondeo my mate is scrapping? Same reg, same engine size and both petrol...
cheers
