Default Brand New Car - What to Look For?

I'm imminently taking delivery of my new Fiesta. I've never owned a new car before. Obviously when I take delivery I have to sign something saying I've examined the car and am satisfied with condition etc.

Obviously I know the main things to look for, cosmetic condition, no scuffs or marks, properly inflated tyres, no marks on wheels or anything - but what else should I be looking for, less obvious than this?

Any tips appreciated

thats about it mate, prob have a scratch here and they, i prob saw your actual fiesta on the back of a train somewhere lol

see fords on trains all the time

get them to polish out any scratchs there and then, they wont be major deep ones cuz they would spray the panel if it were that bad

Just make sure you go and see the car a few days before you are due to collect it, that way you can check it all over and get any scratches / marks taken care of before your pick up day

Our ST was in the dealers 1 week before collection, they rang us up and let us come down and check it all over.

Check is as if you where buying second hand car! It is not untold for brand new cars to have paint or even repair work done

Handbook and service book, breakdown membership card, radio code, spare keys, jack, wheelbrace, locking wheelnut key.

Also ensure any extras are actually present (mats, CD changer, etc).

And my personal favourite - make sure the tax disc is in the window and it matches the plates - I drove my car for 4 months with the wrong number on the plates.

Check for rust under the rubber seal around the door down by the hinges and drainage holes underneath, several ST's have had this problem now

My Focus arrived with a couple of fine scratches down the drivers door, and covered in mud and tree sap....i was NOT happy.

The dealer up in Newcastle sent a bloke out to Valet it that afternoon, and a bloke to do the scratches 2 days later
