Default Cosworth , Whats the next stage of tune????

Hi All

I have a large turbo Escort Cosworth running stage 3 (3 bar map sensor, GGR stainless exhaust, upgrade fuel pump, 803's, group A head gasket and running 22psi)

What are my options to take things further without making it anymore unrealiable??? I have a few ideas but would like ur opinions

Thks

Malc

what you have (roughly 330) is the best every day cossie.

If you want to go much more you'll probably need a full rebuild and being that it is 4x4 you need to start looking at upgraded gearboxes and diffs. Become a proper pain in the arse past 330 spec IMO

Have to agree bud, unless you have loads of money to burn and you want to use the esco only at weekends, then dont go any further, IMO 330-350bhp on a road car is the perfect power ratio.

360 bearing cetainly wouldn't hurt and if you have to replace a turbo @ that level then I'd use a 360 degree bearing but not worth putting into a perfectly good turbo imo

whats wrong with light blue's anyway?? everyone seems to think you have to go to greys from greens. blue's are perfect for @360.

When my car first came back from Harvey's (when my mate owned it) it had 360bhp and 375lbsft torque on light blues, it was a fooken animal and the gearbox/diffs did actually survive 100's of launches before the box finally went

360 we where talking about was about 360 degree bearings not bhp.

Thks for ur input....

I sort of thought more than 330 would be pushing it on the reliabilty side but hoped for a magic solution

It is a weekend car and don't mind spending some money on it, just wondered what sort of money you have to spend to get a proper 450 / 500+ package. DO it once but do it properly, ie engine, gearbox and diffs..

I do agree 330 is nice and really is more than enough most of the time but you just get used to 330 so quickly, i am sure you know where i am coming from

Anyway thks for the input....Malc

I've driven all manner of other people's Cossies, and the nicest of them all was an Escort Cosworth with around 350bhp, Quaife big tooth box, Quaife ATB thickwall front diff, and a 50NM centre VC, using a B&M Quickshift
Quick as fook, no lag to speak of, comfort in knowing the transmission won't go pop, great traction, just an all round nice car.
Stage 3 hits the spot IMO

Bernie....

You are prob right...

I now it will only end in tears (for my bank balance)

Maybe i'll have to settle with one of Simons new motiors when they are available to keep the modding bug at bay..

Here's a question though....If Iput on a RS 500 style intercooler and get a live map and leave it there am I still pushing my luck with relialbilty ..I'll leave it at that I promise

cheers Malc
