Drink Driver strikes again
Just been given these pics by my mate who owns a mint E30 M3 Cecotto.
Not sure exactly what happened but he was minding his own when a car lost control and hit his car and I think he said someone elses car too.
I am gutted for him as you can imagine the car meant everything to him, extremely rare too, its apparently fixable though but waiting to hear more.
He is ok though, well as ok as you can be when someone stack sit straight into you.

Ouch mate, glad he is ok.
Do you have any pics of the car before the accident?
I know these old m3's are quite rare but whats the differances between them and his?
Hope he gets it fixed

I used to dream of owning a M3 Cecotto before i found out the cossie could be made much faster, but i still have a soft spot for one I would be raging if that happened to my car and if drink was involved then it just makes me mad to think about it

He is ****ing ***sed as you can imagine.
Quite sure it is repairable though, its not like a e30 shell is anything like the m3 shells so it has to be repaired tbh.
Its worth a lot more then a e36 m3 !
Last time I spoke to him he was off down the pub (on foot) which is maybe what some should consider before getting in their car.
Worst thing is that he has a very tasty engine ready to be put together and fitted and a trip to the ring in 2 months, none of which I would guess will now happen but I hope they still do

Yes its Reedys car and it is a genuine Cecotto.
Its not the original paint as he just recently had the front bumper and bonnet done due to stonechips.
No doubt the insurer will appreciate its value, most important thing is that they actually pay out !
Either way I'm 99% sure he will have it repaired, he does work for BMW after all so sourcing genuine parts is not a problem, its just the cost of them that hurts

Reedys!!!!
Thats a total loss. No ifs, no buts.
No insurance company will pay out for repairs on that. The main legs have taken impact as well.
In fairness probably better to get the pay out then buy it back and track it. (Or break it)

That is what I thought but whoever is fixing it says it will go again.
He already has the hire car so I hope its going to be sorted soon as we have the ring to get to in 2 months

One of the main problems he may come into is that most insurance policies are rendered invalid if the driver is drunk, so he may well end up taking the hit on his own insurance to add insult to injury! Cash in lieu may well be a n avenue to pursue, and get the work done himself.

They will pay out to the third party, but even if he was fully comp, they won't pay for the DD's car. They also have the option of pursuing the cost of repairs from the DD, which if he somehow manages to keep his job, is quite likely!

No news at all yet.
Whatever happens I think it will go on a jig and have some new inner wings fitted.
He won't mess about with doing it properly thats for sure and with any luck he will just put the new engine in rather than re fit the old one

Update,
The drink driver got a 18 month ban and a few hundred quid fine and Ł70 court costs.
Not exactly the worst punishment but hopefully enough to make him sort it out.
