Suuny, as a side - i think your car rocks lol. I was there when u did the 124 terminal back in the day at brunters and i was shocked at how quick it was. It may "only" have done a 13, but i would rather that anyday, as apart from the first 60ft, it would be a far quicker car on the road
Chip - i want 11's - get on it!

Here is the real truth behind why vauxhall owners inherently seem to do better at 1/4 mile sprints than Ford owners.....
Vauxhall owners - have SMALL cocks and lack the ability to impress ladies in the bedroom, so they spend vasts amount of time and money perfecting their traffic light grand prix stats to impress the ladies.
Ford owners - have BIGGER cocks.
It's a simple fact of life!

i think people are missing the point meant by "power delivery", in my humble and inexperienced opinion, id expect the reason the vauxhall guys running xes and loads of gas are so quick is because of the fact they can control the power off the line. it doesnt matter a fuck how low the torque comes in on a 1900cvh making 350bhp...if it comes in all at once and you have two options of 40lb/ft off the line or 340il/ft off the line, its never going to do the 60 foot quick! thats one thing the n/a vauxhall boys have going for them, they can feather the throttle right on the limits of grip right through first, get it hooked up in 2nd then feed in the 150bhp of gas ontop of the 200bhp theyve already got and theyre 5 or 6 car lengths ahead of the ford lad whose trying to decide whether to bog down and wait for the torque to turn up, or sit there ina cloud of smoke....
are there any fwd fords running tuned zetecs with lots of gas instead of big power turbo motors?!
i think thats the key to be honest...

so if all the vauxhall boys run n/a. why dont people use the i4, a very strong engine, in 2.3 form with bodies, on a really good set up that will give you 220bhp+ and then just feed 400bhp of nitouse in?
maybe should stop pssing bout with turbos

i have matched the gazed corsa for 60ft times at york and mine is turbo'd vauxhalls are just much better off the line and obviously were much better drivers p

I'm only on page 3 of 5 so this question might be a repeat but is it anything to do with the standard LSD in Series 2s? I remember Oddkid (cant remember the rest of his alias) running very nice 0-60 times in a turbo'd mk3 escort with no LSD?

Well ive got a Zetec turbo with a load of gas!
The problem is I have just got it running properly tonight, so have to map it, then run it in!, then map it some more, then map the 150bhp of progressive n2o before setting off from the Highlands of Scotland on Tuesday evening for quali on Wednesday.
Going to try anyway.
Simon.

CHEERS FOR THE COMMENTS GUYS
i was well chuffed
wasn't intending to run but thought what the heck 2day and 1st run managed a 12.6 @ 115mph i think it was, second was a 13.0 @ 114mph and 3rd was a 12.9 @ 116mph but on the second too i was seeing high act's due to heat soak in the fire up lane que
slip is at home so cant remember all the other time details im on a library pc at the mo as my net is down at home
that best run was on yoko 539's @ 17psi and normal suspension too so hoping when the final mapping is done and woodbridge soon and i put on some decent tyres i can get it down a bit more but im happy if i dont ever beat that

i was well down on power at the apt rolling road mate,
crappy boost due to a failing amal valve which has now been changed for a new type of air injector solenoid as used on the rally evo's etc,
also had a full re map and im using tom scarletts old head off his s1 turbo as i snapped my cam after a track day last month not sure how the heads differ realy in terms of cam spec/flow spec but things seem to be working well now and she is going strong,
was getting 13.0 @ 115mph & a 12.9 @ 116mph with crap launch & act's up to 40 so even under bad conditions it made awesome times,
act's got high due to massive que's in the afternoon when i did my second 2 runs, spent half the day looking for a crash helmet as required due to the terminal speeds in excess of 110mph

just absolutely loving this thread, the cvh love affair is a fair point as to get decent power you need to fit a big turbo which isnt really too good for traction, doesnt help much that the rst holy grail seems to be top speed, and escorts are pretty much a shit 1/4 mile car to start with due to weight, just waiting on someone building a mk2 fezzy with a good spec zetec engine with a decent smallish sized turbo on it,all out power is no good fwd as you lose more to wheelspin, better concentrating on power delivery,as said by the vaux boy, seen a 280 bhp s1 doing a 13.89 quarter mile and his first 2-3 secs were spent wheelspinning off the line still awesome motor though wullie lol, surely some kind of jap boost controller could limit the boost in first and second until you can hit third and really get the power down,my mate has an mr2 with t87 turbo 750 bhp,and it can just about handle the power on semi wide as fcuk slicks rwd and run low 11's,put it fwd and it would prolly be in the high 12's low 13's due to traction
