Virgin Broadband - Non Cable
My contract with Demon is coming to an end and i'm moving elsewhere as they are the most unhelpful bunch of twats.
I live in the back of beyond, and used to get download speeds of 100kb/s to 120kb/s - consistent with a 1MBit line. After my upgrade to DSL Max my speed dropped to that consistent with a 512kbit line
Demon didn't want to know and basically getting them to even so much as investigate issues with it was impossible.
My contract is up on July 11th, so looking for another supplier. What are Virgin like (bearing in mind it's not cable, it's bt copper line) ?
Do they allow P2P. bittorrent etc etc?
£17.99 for unlimited "up to" 8mpbs unlimited usage subject to fair usage. I pay £24.99 a month for that from Demon, although it does come with a fixed IP. I could get around the fixed IP thing now anyway, as my router does dynamic-dns
Any other providers out there that are any good ?
I'd get Zen, as thats what i use for customers at work, but they're a bit pricey for home use, if you want an unlimited package

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Guy at work uses it and has no issues. Also not tied to a 12 month contract (well, he isnt).
He lives the arse end of nowhere (deepest darkest Norfolk) and he has never complained about speed/connection issues.

I moved to virgin a few months back. My 2 meg service from Onetel was upgraded to 8 meg. Which gave me speeds lower than dial up. I was then downgraded to 2 meg and still see less than dial up.
Customer service number is premium rate. Customer service is shite.

If you are running through the copper wire, then your connection with Virgin will be the same as you currently have with Demon as they will go through the same BT Exchange..

Virgin are wank now. Download more than 3gb in a day and they cap your connection to 5mb for a few hours. Paying for a 20Mb connection and only getting 5Mb is fucking pathetic
