He even went on to say “The two groups of supporters have a tradition of good behaviour”. Weasel words from William, yet again. Post-final and we’re apparently the biggest rabble since Genghis Khan and his hoards invaded Europe for the medieval predecessor of the European Cup, and according to Gaillard the problems in Athens mirrored Istanbul.

Basically UEFA fucked up big time and are trying to pass the buck.
Imagine holding such a prestige event at a non-football stadium which didn`t even have basic security facilities (like turnstiles for instance !!).

it all went a bit pete tong at the stadium, fans with proper tickets wern't let in and fans withtickets stolen from little kiddies were

there were several reports on how peole were at the gates, tickets in hand and peole were just grabbing them from them and running away

it's a fair old whack of wonga to fork out to go to the game and to have them purlioned from your very fingers as you are about to entre the stadium is cruel beyond belilef

i wouldn't ban the fans from the game, i'd make liverpool play behind closed doors for all the euro matchs at home, but i'd also be right fooked off with them morons in athens who didn't have a clue

anyone who had genuine tickets and wern't let in should be reimburesed their entire expenditure

there is two sides to every story, i am not trying to defend the liverpool fans who did things they shouldnt have done in athens, if they did anything they shouldnt, i hope they get the punishment they deserve. but you CANT say ALL liverpool fans are the same, when this clearly is not the case. was it all the united fans fault when it all kicked of in italy ? its easy to point the finger of blame skeg, without knowing the full story, was the organisation nothing to do with it ? uefa f*cked up, and think they can shift the blame on to liverpool fans to cover there own back, when in reality, it was the fault of the uefa and a handfull of liverpool fans. whats needed here is the people responsible on both sides, standing up and taking account for there actions.

yes skeg, but i also read, ' ban them so they have nothing to play for ', ban us for what ? because uefa couldnt organise a piss up in a brewary, and due to that, ' some ' fans tried to take advantage of the situation, the whole thing was a shambles, yes, some liverpool fans are to blame, but if uefa had put the security measures in place that are in place in the premiership every week, there would not have been an opportunity for those who tried to take advantage of uefa's mishandling of the whole thing. so what should happen is uefa and liverpool take the blame, and uefa make sure nothing like this ever happens again.

it will go to show that if certain individuals hadn't taken the piss then they would have been enjoying the football
it might even go so far as to have those who robbed tickets being shamed into confessing by their friends and families or at least shunned when they start complaining
it drives home the message that ALL fans from ALL clubs need to look out for each other to stop this from happening

mindless acts which see thousands of fans going to a venue without tickets and then buying forgeries or stealing them from people who have paid for them legitamatly will then stop being the norm

Agreed. The genuine Liverpool fans are sickened by what they witnessed. Some of the eye-witness accounts of what happened out there are dreadful, especially the use of tear-gas and batons by the Police. Many fans have said they refuse to travel abroad again, they're too scared.

How the hell UEFA agreed to use a stadium that had no turnstyles and have inept stewards not checking all tickets is beyond belief.
