Default Broadband Providers

Who you with??

I'm with AOL i need the unlimited downloads, been with them for 2yrs but for the past month from 6pm till 11pm i get dial-up speeds, when i complained they said it's BT's exchange.

So time for a change, so who you with and do they have a download limit?

Thanks

We are with tesco and fook me are we having some problems recently !

Going to swap to Pipex asap

I know speedtest.net checks the current speed but is there anyway I can see if we are going to have our line upgraded anytime soon as were still on 512 !

It is better than no internet though I might add

ALso with Virgon (cable) broadband, only the 2mb service tho.....

But so far it's been faultless No dis-connections, no speed issues (that I can tell anyway) and there is talk (and Virgin admitted they are doing it) that they throttle the bandwidth during peak hours (4pm to midnight) for people that download over a certain ammount of mb (on the 2mb service, if you d'load over 350mb, you speed gets halved to 1mb for the next 4hrs) but I downloaded 1.2gb last night with no apparent speed limiting - 230-250kb/s solid for the whole time it was d'loading (1hr 40min)

Seems okay to me And only a tenner a month Till next year when it reverts to £18 a month

Are you on broadband mate, do you suffer from the dial-up speeds in the evening like i do? want to know whther it's because of area's or not.

I'm thinking virgin, but it's to expensive £35 for a 10mb connection is too much

yes mate on BB...and no i dont really suffer from any speed fluctuations, but i can only get certain speeds anyway due to my rural location

Customer service cant be any worse than Tesco ! they charge £1.50 a min once you have been with them over a month !

Not good to hear that Pipex dont have great customer service though.

One thing that I cant work out is that I keep losing my connection at home, tesco swear thats the line is fine so will BT come out and check the line into the house ?

You can check your BT line, you just have to ring them it's all pre-recorded

Been with Pipex for a few years but will be changing this year when the 12 months is up. They limit torrent / p2p connections all day / weekends and often find the connection very slow.

Anyone know what ISP's don't limit p2p's?? (ie - for torrent downloading....)

VirginMedia 20mb. On the £85 VIP package and cant fault it.

Customer service has improved no end.

Last speedtest on numion.com was : 19.8mb down 752kb up.

For a 20mb down and 756 up I would say thats near as damn as spot on!
