Default what would you do about this accident waiting to happen?

hi everyone, sorry for not having an introduction post but i need some advice. my sister needs a new tyre on her fiesta badly, its worn on the inside and the strands are starting to peel away and the tyre looks like its about to fail at any moment. ive told both my sister and my parents that a new tyre is needed urgently but they dont know anything about cars and they think im nit picking. twice they have said to me that money is sort as it is and the car is fine and to stop harrassing them.

thing is she does lots of motorway driving and if its going to blow out it will do it on the motorway and if anything happens my parents will be devastated. if you were in my shoes what would you do? thanks everyone.

If it's actually down to the strands then just slash the fucker one night and they'll have to get it fixed. Or wait till she crashes and then say "I told you so"

N.B the latter was obviously just a joke

when tyres cost fuck all, esp as a part worn would be about 25quid tops, they are either stupidly poor, blind, or fucking insane.

shocked at parents are like that too with their daughter.

usually other way round.

gotta jus keep convincing em mate.

best bet is slyly pop it, and once its off show em how bad it is.

aside from a blowout or police doing her for it, neither being nice as its your sis, thats the best "told you so you cunts" way

ive been trying but the message doesnt seem to get through last time her car was washed was when i did it back in summer 06, goes show how she treats it, but washing a car is nothing compared to neglecting tyres or brakes.

id change it to make sure she isnt harmed, then show all three of them the old tyre and the legal advice thing in haynes

I had a long discussion with mum about putting decent tyres on cars, even if you dont drive fast, the first time you diver for the brakes in an emergency you wont mind the extra tenner a corner. in the end I agreed to pay the extra and got them, and having driven on them she was like oooh, thats the difference it makes, didnt realise it was that big.

Jesus what aresholes your parents are(truth hurts), if you have explained to them the metal hanging out etc.
Slash the tyre so she has no option, a s/h tyre from a scrappy is betteer than this for a tenner, it will not only have the potential to save her life but that of somebody else, unless you don't mind that on your conscience, you are clearly a decent person as you have a conscience, respect to you, but do the right thing, if money is so tight maybe she should sell the car and walk ?

ps does she smoke or drink ?, how much does she spend on this ?

take the keys off of her
call out kwik fit mobile
get them to change the tyre
land them with the bill
cheaper than getting pulled over by the feds or having an accident where the insurance company will say "bald tyres, no thank you"

and it'll teach them not to be twats about the car too

slash it then say oooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh who did that then,

then take her the scrappy and get her a wheel off one of the many fords in their 15 max and you can pick what 1 you want.

Either stick a knife in it or grass her up...

I would probably do the second as that situation would REALLY REALLY wind me up...

If she wants to risk her life then fine... but she is endangering the lives of others and needs to be taught a lesson I am afraid

You have told her enough times... grass her up!

rob the wheel if you dont want to slash it,

leave it on bricks,

where abouts are, im willing to donat a new tyre on a fiesta spare, as i has this same argument with my mum regarding brakes and tyres.

Is this thread a joke? Am I missing something...? My mum is the type that wouldn't realise if someone nicked her engine but she knows you have to change tyres and check your brakes

Personally I'd buy a new tyre and get it fitted myself.

Never scrimp on tyres, they're the only things between the car and the road!

My thoughts exactly.

Youve obviously done your bit and told her and your parents that the wires coming through so why are they not bothered? Thats really worrying! Have you really explained how dangerous it is and that it WILL blow out soon enough and she'll more than likely hit something injuring them and/or herself.

Sorry but if you have explained the dangers to them, then they have serious issues if they choose to ignore you. I think you need to give the car a thorough check as there could be loads of other dangerous stuff wrong with it that they choose to ignore. Just pop it and have done mate.

Its sooooo worrying knowing that theres cars like this on the road putting EVERYONES lives at risk.

To all the people saying buy her a new tyre yourself, sorry but thats the wrong way to go about it. Ok it solves the initial problem, but it wont teach her to look after her car in the future. Its the drivers responsibility to check the basics at least and they need to understand how dangerous it is. If its purely down to costs, then she shouldnt even be on the road if she wont spend £20 to replace the death trap tyre.

Just tell her if she doesnt sort it ASAP, you'll pop it in the morning. Problem solved.

Having said all that, the sad thing is i dont think people like this will EVER learn what ever you do.
