Default Insuring a Cat D write off. is it hard??

Hi all.. just wondering how much harder (if at all) it is to insure a cat D
write off.. the reason it was written off being it was Stolen...
(and not recovered before the insurance was paid out i spose?)

do insurance companies draw breath thru gritted teeth when you say Cat d??
or will it be easy enough?

Cheers!

They have it on a register mate, you don't have to declare it as they will know

So long as the car has an MOT and is all road legal then no probs.

Fair enough, lovely cars mate but I wouldn't buy a written off Cossie!

You will end up breaking it when you want to sell it too!

My wifes Land Rover is a Cat C, insurance company didn't even bat an eyelid, I doubt they even know? It's Ł9000 worth of TD5 Discovery, had it resprayed in the new LandRover Sport Orange(you need to see the paint in the sun to appreciate it) and only cost Ł5000 all in, looks ace. Getting some black 20's for it next. It only had superficial damage, best deal ever!

but its true Dan.

imo, if i want a car for hard usage then a car being on the list would not bother me at all.

there is no problem insuring a written off car but wit till u go to claim if u smash it or someone runs in to u an it gets written off u only get 40% of the bottom book price of what it,d be worth

and a dont mind buyin write offs had loads but would,nt buy another write of cosworth had one and ended up takin a kick in the stains , couldny give it away when they know its been written off thought a was goni have to break it

thats there policy now they dont tell u that when they insure it but thats what they do

think it was bout a year an a half ago when they started shaftin u like that

bout the same time they brought out cat c identity checks know how uve to take them to a vosa station

as a write of just used to be a write off but now when u go to the auctions there all catigorised

cat b is a breaker not to go on the road again(sold with no id)

cat c may need a id check afore sein the road again (bout 90% of them do)
and on the logbook will say this car has beeen substansualy repaired

cat d just straight forward fix then back on the road

hope this helps so if u go look at a write off ask to see the log book first
