How can i tell ?????

I bought a saff ( big spec ) and the bloke tells me its a 2.4 conversion ,,
Now everything else he told me about it is 100% so i have no reason not to trust him , its just he had his own business that went tits up so all the reciepts he put through his business have gone , so i cant prove its a 2.4 engine unless i can tell by looking etc

Any help from you engine people please

NORTH YORKS RS SPARES the 2.4 is acheived by increasing the stroke of the crankshaft. all you have to do is remove a spark plug and put something down the hole to measure how far up and down it moves. if it moves longer than standard (76.95mm), then it is probably a 2.4

I may as well take the engine out and take the head and sump of then i can be 100% , and also see the condition etc

Yep a stick or whatever down the plug hole is easiest way to measure the stroke.

that's a bit more work than just checking the stroke but maybe the sensible option to be sure about bearings, bore, ring clearance etc
