Default How would you feel if someone did this to your car??

Well as some of you know a couple of weeks ago i did a deal on my cossie for a bmw m3!! well went to do the gear linkage on it the other day cus it was very sloppy so had it on my mates ramp did it all and it was nice and tight again, good news...... well went to wash my hands come back and my mate says to me does this brake ok and i said not as good as i thought they would be!! well he found that the rear brake flexy hoses had been cut and bolts put in the end with jubillee clips round them so the car had no rear brakes just the two fronts

So i had to do something about it so put 2 new pipes on it and bled the brakes and both the calipers were seized on so thats why they cut the brake lines so stripped the calipers down cleaned them up and they work fine now

But you wouldnt think some one would do that to a car like that would you how bad is that some people!!!!!!!

did you buy it private or off a dealer?? You can legally take them to the cleaners as they knowingly sold a vehicle with a downright dangerous fault, get the garage to write a statement of evidece, and present the fact to whoever you bought it off, " knew nothing about it" is a bollox excuse as well as it cannot have passed an MOT in that condition..... I would follow this up big time mate, sure the police would be interested as well

you got to be some kind of ham fisted club footed cripple to need to disconnect the rear brakes just to do a burnout.

its deffo safer with a line lock, but perfectly possible to hold the car in place doing a burnout with a cars normal brake setup, so suprised if they was disconected just so they could do burnouts, esp on a powerful car like an M3 with good front brakes thatd need relativley little brake pedal pressure to hold the car in place.

i had the same on my cortina.

the rear brakes were disconnected and the handbrake was shit and the cable was at full adjustment. i dunno if it was for that reason, but the brakes on old fords aint the best to start with, let alone once they've been messed with.

Cheers neil. When i pmd to butch i was as angry as he was as could of been nasty if i had to stop fast.
Also whoever put the headunit and front speakers in made a right bodge of it(was driving along one day and everything stopped working)so i had world of ice put new front speakers in and they rewired the stereo so it was right for when i sold it the next day. They said the wiring was a right muddle, but thats all sorted now.

Personally id have wanted to know what was going on after test driving the thing and finding the brakes were crap and have checked further, but its all very easy for me to say that, if you hadnt driven a similar car before it could be easily overlooked. Glad no serious injury was caused as a result of it
