Default Luck on my side tonight !!!

Went out earlier to do some more road testing of my new beam but this time with my 17's fitted with yoko paradas. Everything was going well until ..........................

.......................at 32 psi in 4th No 1 injector o seal blew out the fuel rail and sprayed 75psi of fuel all over the engine bay

The Defi alarming was the first sign something had gone wrong, stopped the car to find petrol pouring out the grill. Stopped the engine and left it for fear of it catching fire if i opened the bonnet

After about 20 mins i bravely opened the bonnet and found the seal blown out. Will have to look at the damage tomorrow as half the paint has gone off the cam cover so i need to check cam belt as well

The injectors are 83lb Siemens in a Carwise rail. If you have this combination fitted please check everything is ok

scary stuff

on another note do you think it's the rails fault, or a dodgy seal?

i'm always dubious about changing to aftermarket stuff when the standard part still does the job perfectly well tbh.

i'd go and choose 6 numbers mate

Erm, that's not good

I blame the shonky engine builder

Could have been worse, hopfully paint for the cam cover, a new o-ring and some more fuel and away you go!

My FPR seal split on my car, sprayed fuel all over my freshly powder coated and painted engine bay and made a right mess. That could have been serious too.

So fortunate on your car that it didn't spray outside, stripping the tiger stripes off, now that would have been a disaster

Not had a problem before Injectors seem to move a bit compared to normal.

Defo some investimigation required then

new set of seals would be fook all, just grease them up a bit to stop them perishing maybe?

how's the beam anyway?

I had this happen on my old saff, same combination as you have There were no leaks on idle or normal driving so i sent it up to Stu's for mapping and most was done then he went to add more boost and couldnt stop the rail leaking from the "o" rings. So we tried a second rail and it was the same (also moved up and down more than a standard rail) Then we pretty much chucked both in the bin and got reyland to modify a standard fuel rail for me
