Just purchased a Multimedia card reader so I can get the pics of my Nokia 6230 phone on to the computer.

Running XP, so it should just come up with removable disk when you plug it into the USB port.................. which it does.

Try and open it, and all it says is "please insert disk into drive f" (f is USB port.............)

Doing my head in - USB port appears to be working fine..........

 

Might sound obvious, but, did you put the card from your phone into the reader ?

 

Do you have the card reader plugged straight into the back of your PC or do you have it chained off another USB device ?

 

whack reader direct to pc is it isnt already, they dont liek hubs usually

 

It's just using a USB extension lead, as there's two ports on the back of the puter.

Have tried it both with the lead, and plugged directly into the port, and it makes no difference.

Cheers, but how do you get into DOS?

 

Start - run- type CMD in box and press enter

 

Start, run, then type cmd in the box and press [return]. Should get you a black window with a prompt.

 

... and it says "the device is not ready"?

 

did it come with any software etc? perhaps try reinstalling that

if not id say the card reader is fecked

 

Did you try the usual microsoft fix ?
