I was driving home from work today when i got pulled by a police Ford Galaxy! Totally out of the blue! For "using my mobile phone whilst driving" Something i was quite clearly not doing!

Id just seen them approaching a junction which joined the road i was on, about 30 seconds later they were up my arse lights on and allsorts! Pulled over as at first as i thought they were trying to get past but they just pulled in behind me and proceeded to get out! I was in total shock to be honest as i was quite obviously at fault!

Got out and started talking to the two officers who then told me in no uncertain terms that i was using my mobile phone! I instantly denied it as im sure anyone would in that position, at which point they told me i was a liar and that if i should continue to talk when they didnt want me to i would be "in big trouble"!! They then asked where my phone was, and as i pulled it out of my pocket he took it and started to flick through it whilst he explained how it had to be sent off for up to 3 days for analysis, and that i was not allowed to get any numbers or information from the phone until it was completed! I co-operated just to get it sorted then took a trip up to the main police station in the city to make a formal complaint!! Spoke to the Duty Inspector who has told me, he will ask them to look at it tomorrow morning and get it back later that day!

FUCKING COMPLETE BASTARDS!

You dont know how bizarre that is, i have as it happens got a really old shit phone in my glove box! Had it as mine needs to go back for exchange but at the time i was out of the car and when he said "where is your phone?!?" i got it out! Just thought they would let me prove it there and then!

I really cant believe it, it would be different if i may have even looked like i was on the phone!

My right hand (the hand they claim was holding the phone) was on the steering wheel (quite low down) my left hand was on the gear stick as i had then pulled out of a junction and in the process of changing up!!

Its not even as though i was cheeky or aggressive in any way, i was totally placid and was simply trying to explain how i could show him all call activity while we stood there! Everytime i spoke, they spoke over me and completely ignored anything i said!

You will not believe how many people are getting this at the moment.

I think it is disgracefull, taking your phone off you what if you need that for work as I do? or if someone needs to contact you in an emergency as for me, my mobile is my only form of contact from my family dotted around the country and my grandparents who rely on me.

I think that all police officers should be given some training on reading mobiles, and should have to prove it at the scene or let you go.

Those that i have heard have been stopped unfairly have basically been told, pay up, you will not beat us and have had to take it, fek that

I am quite concerned this is the case! If this does happen then surely it can be taken further, and i can prove that the last call i made was as i say! If there is a call on there after when i say there is (which is approx. 40 minutes before hand) then i know they have done it!

Might be a stupid point to raise, but did you see inside the galaxy? Did it have all the standard Police kit on the dash and in the back?

Sure they weren't just "dressed for the occasion" and ran the same scam elsewhere; gettin someone to part with their mobile?

Did you get a 7 day wonder? As you've committed a road traffic offence you should've been given one. At the very least the incident should be logged.

 

Was the real deal! Car was definately a police car, i was a bit worried i had been scammed but during my visit to the station to issue my complaint the inspector phoned the officer and discussed is with him!

 

i know someone else that got done for "using his mobile". But infact he had one hand on the steering wheel and leaning on his other hand on the door....which im sure loads do it i know i do.

Well tried to call o2 this morning to get a list of call activity from yesterday, to put my mind at rest and give me some evidence against the police! Theyve told me the only information available to them is what is on there website under "unbilled calls" which only shows calls up until the 14/05/07!! Surely they have access to all call activity?!?!

yes they can. records show up within seconds. sometimes instant. when I orked at virgin you could somtimes see them showing as being in call when chatting to me.

it just involves a bit of work.....
police wouldnt have to wait 3 days for call logs, they can be got instantly with the correct authorisation to prove ty are pigs

The police force should be a group of respected and appreciated members of society who the rest of us look to for protection, not a bunch of annoying cunts trying to win favour at the nick by doing as many people as possible regardless of if they are actually guilty or not.

there was a bit in the news yesterday about them having to make the numbers up for the statistics
one bloke was questioned oer the leaves in a neighbours garden amongst other strange things and i think i was for feeding ducks

mind you, i got nicked a few years back and had my bank statement on me, i shoed it to the bloke behind the desk and then my possisions were taken from me, i saw the copper who nicked me looking through the statement and made a right big fuss

When i worked at Orange the only department that could give out call data was the Police Liasion Dept, We had access to what they called raw un-billed data, but where never allowed to tell the customer what was on there.

I have already issued a formal complaint against both officers involved! Went to the police HQ in the city not long after the incident and spoke to the Duty Inspector, who then phoned the officer to discuss with him! Told me that they are going to look at the phone today and let me know!

Im still shocked by it all to be honest, its quite distressing really! I just know that whatever happens the best i can hope for is to get my phone back! These 2 coppers are just going to get a slapped wrist whatever happens!
