Your views on the "euro" look
My mate has been wanking over this:-
Now, personally, I think it's shite. Utter fucking shite
In my opinion, Mk1's should be black, clipper kitted and have a charged VR6 under the bonnet.
None of theis "stretched tyres" shite
What do you guys think? Surely them tyres cannot help the handling?

Apart from the pics of em on P-rims, they look cool.
Better than cossies running ET40 7x17s and 205 wide tyres with the wheels a mile inside the arches, like usual.
But then again, when you see my cars, its obvious id say that

I like the look but not when it goes too far i.e. tyres reeeallllyyy stretched over tiny tiny but extra extra wide rims...
Love Mk1 Golfs though, it was one of them that got me into cars when i was about 15
Pics look like Clive Sullivan way going into Hull

I cant see how those can be driven over here, with that clearance of the tyre to wheel arch. Unless they only drive on roads that are as smooth as a sheet of glass. Here in West Sussex, they wouldnt get further than a few hundred yards, then get stuck is a pothole, or shred the tyre.

Love them, think they look awesome!
Lets face it, they are a thousand times better than the fibreglassed up peices of shit nova/saxo's/corsa's that we have over here!

I quite like the understated element of the euro look, but the wheel choices tend to be shite, espeically when combined with tyres stretch so wide the car doesnt actually corner well.
Its all about performance for me with cars pretty much, so anything that massively compromises performance for "a look" is IMHO just chavvy crap.

I like Euro-style, especially on Golfs - not too keen on the Euro look on lazy-arse-pie's mk6 Escort though
though better than when the rims where silver

The old hamlet cigar advert springs to mind "carlos fandango super wide wheels" then the geezer drives through a tight farm yard gate which takes all four wheels off the car
Looks alright but as stated above illegal in this country if tyres stick out further than the wheel arch/bodywork

if i rememeber right its not the amount the wheels or the tyre walls stick out.
its only when the treaded part of the tyre sticks out further than the arch its illegal
