Yes mate so I understand - spoke to Steve, your best man. Sounds like it will be a good one! Im not sure what time Im back from Blackpool but probably will be too late sadly.

If I get back at a sensible time, I might try to catch up with you for a quick drink on your way around!

Back on topic - Can we quickly redefine exactly what the problem is.

Problem
Cylinder number one, and only cylinder number one is wet, which is implying poor burn and as such rich.

This is in turn leading to excess fuel in the exhaust gas, which is leading to the Lambda sensor throwing a huff and therefore leaning the car right out

Tests
Injector and spark was swapped between cylinder 1 and 2. Problem remained on Cylinder 1.

Jameses (ie me) stupid questions
1. Am I right in assuming that the car runs on all four cylinders when driving normally? If so, surely any mechanical issue is going to be one that only affects car at idle -

2. Does the car play up in conditions when the closed loop does not normally activate ie when cold? If it does, then the problem may lie elsewhere making the car lean on the other cylinders, rather than the other way around, as the lambda wont be correcting, and the map will take precedent.

I only mention this because I seem to recall you saying that the car hunted at idle from cold when the ISCV was plugged in.

q1

car runs really well when driving normally!

q2

it did have a tps set up issue this is now sorted so the iscv does not effect idle when hot.

the only time i really notice this problem is at idle, the car is surging as its so weak(as you descibed the rich cylinder is fooling the lambda sensor)
i cant richen the mixture above .45% if i unplgg the lambda and adjust the mixture to say 1% its perfect... so this tells me the fault is purley a mixture related problem? its just to weak to idle nicely
