I want to upgrade from the factory lsd in my 200sx and wondered if you guys had any experiance with a 1.5 way diff? The car will be mainly used as a road car but with the occasionsal trackday/santa pod visit.
I was looking for a quaife(spl?) atb but they don't list one for a s13 200sx.
Any advice welcome.

elo mate long time! hows it going?
i had an AE86 corolla and that had a 1.5diff and it was fine on road driving, id say go for it but also depends on what percentage the diff locks, if its high then you will bump all over the place when going round bend with a bit of lock and speed
it used bounce a bit when i didnt want to drift but drive fast thru the bends
HTH

absolutley fine mate, even a welder is IMO.
the amount of shit we do to our cars to make em less nice to drive day to day, a decent diff is nothing.
and you should be glad there isnt an ATB for your car, they shit

should be ok , just dont put too much pressure on the plates
i have a plated diff on my 3dr it has been setabout 90Nm on the plates ,
it is a bit noisy at low corning speeds due to the plates trying to break free
i asked for my plated diff to be set for road use which is about 60Nm which is fine the plates will break free ,so when your conering the one wheel will spin quicker than the other and you wont get any noise from it
unfortunely mine is set for track use which i hate it's the low speed noise i hate when conering , you cant hear nothing once it's in a straight line

steve - have you got any recomendations on which brand lsd to go for or are they all pretty much the same?
What would be the main advantage over this type of diff over my existing lsd?
Apologies for all the questions

Best off searching/asking on DW mate, i know some are quieter than others with similar good effect, but cant for the life of me remember why, as ive never looked into it enough, cant justify spending so much money when a welder is so similar.
Main advantage? Better traction and handling, depending how you drive it will be a huge difference.

The noise was a issue aswell, I had hard of using a s15 diff but think its not a straight forward swap and for the money i might aswell get a aftermarket on.
Should be the first 200 using gotech so should be interesting how it all turns out.
Cheers for the advice
