IIRC (which I probably don't) I did 1:22s-1:24s in my Saph at 370 bhp.

Also, I think my brother does 1:27s ish in his 205 Mi16

When I timed Porkie and Martin H round there, I never saw faster than 1:20s, although another friend told me he saw 1:18 on one of their laps.

Seen a lot of normal ish 205s / Xr2 / RS2000 type cars all in low 1:30s

What are you going to be testing? Meastro?

Good times Tony do you know what date(s) you will be there this year?

The Reyland cars "should" be well under 1:20, closer to tony's 1:14, although going out and enjoying yourself on a track day and posting lightning times don't necessarily coincide

We run a Rover 25 MGZR in the Castle Combe saloon championship - 1800 normally aspirated K-series (around 220bhp) and treaded road tyres, in a grid of 30-odd this car runs low 1:19 during a race.

May 28th ,
july 14/15th ,
the may round is the day after i do snetterton with the BARC tho so might be pushing it a bit . I watched your race when i was there last year, the rovers seem to have that sewn up , a couple of storming tomcats seemed to be the class of the field with the ZR's .

Porkie by his own admission never gives it 10/10ths round there, due to the nature of the run off, and bumpiness of the circuit.

Last Castle Combe Action Day the Reyland cars were lapping at 1:18 - 1:19 with a clear(ish) track.

For reference, Cossie's with a road set up suspension and 330 - 350 BHP will usually manage 1:24 - 1:26 on a tidy lap.......Anything under 1:24 in a road car is a VERY good time.

We were told that we had been timed at 1.17 by a couple of people BUT the track was not clear by any stretch of the imagination, we were constantly in traffic and I was having to wait for slower cars to get through corners before passing which slowed our times..... We will have to see if we can do better next Saturday

Well we shall see, the car is around the 220bhp mark and weighs a smidge under 800kg.
It has full cage which go through to turrets, adjustable camber and Leda suspension all round so should handle quite well, we have also relocated battery and tanks to centre of car low down.
Brakes are 4 pots with 300mm disks so should be ok for weight of car.

Dare say we will be adjusting stuff throughout day

Main thing is to enjoy and stay safe and learn a bit more, hopefully will hold its own on Bristol and Swindon day at Coombe

This is a 1:18.5 from my mate Graham's old mk1 Golf, it had a normally aspirated 20v motor on ITBs..

Well were back from Coombe

We had a couple issues on first real shake down, O-Ring on the oil cap , we started suffering a couple brake issues last couple of laps, we since found the brake disks now has 3 big cracks going through them, so new set of disks required

From the start we were struggling with the tyres, these were fitted to the wheels when we got them, so a new set of Toyo 888s are needed, wihich would make a massive difference.

We also need to adjust the camber on the front but thats a simple job

Lap Times wise once a handfull of laps were completed we was seeing 1:25s but we think better tyres, camber sorting out and more experience around coombe they will drop.

Hitting 1.5 Bar boost

Hi everybody, it was along time ago, '96 ish, there must have been a track change because I did a 1.05 something, which gave me a 100mph average lap in the 500, I remember 7600 in fifth through Westway.

Hi AlexF, I checked the circuit after my post, you are spot on, no chance of a 100mph average now.

Hi RichM, they have to take as much risk away as possible due to the nanny state, so they have to slow the racing down, the cheapest way to do that is chicane's, great shame that circuit's are happier to have slower less exciting race's to save money !

Good work Jase

Especially on Yoko A520s

I have them on my road wheels, and I'd rather run my 888s year round, than run on my road wheels!

888s will cut at least a few seconds of that time in the dry I'm sure, they do make that much difference. Have you been round with an instructor? As I'm sure with taking the right line, even more time can be saved.

Right lines were something I never bothered with though

When you up there next? Will Ford or Pug wheels fit your car? As you're welcome to try my 888s on your car.

Hopefully be testing again on the 14th of next month, with a couple of degrees neg camber, new brakes and some decent rubber
