Cossie set up help
My saff has now got a surge problem at idle , started when i put the new engine in, doesnt cold start overly well, and surges its way up to temp, then surges betwwen 900 and 1100 rpm all the time
its deffo mixture related cos if i unplugg the lambda sensor it stops and is perfect again.... and the surge also related to the readings im getting between pin 1 and 2 on the ecu. if i richen it right up it gets better but still isnt normall
secondly the idle speed is hanging on the iscv...when i unplug the iscv the idle drops even when the car is up at temp, i was quite sure the iscv should have no effect on idle when hot? and if it does it normally means a poor tps set up? no matter how i try to adjust the tps it still does it not sure if the two probs are related
The secs monitor is showing all good readings...and i have pressure tested the inlet system to 2.5 bar no leaks......fuel pressure 3,5 bar at idle pipe off.....plug gap .65 on 071 plugs.....
any ideas? any info on how to base set a throttle body...ie tps and base throttle screw set up and base idle?
Thanks!

Seriously though, I have quite a few spare bits and pieces - you are more than welcome to pop over tomorrow and have a play - Wife working all day, and you could pop in for a couple of hours before Crealey if you like!
You can try my dodgy ISCV!

Just a thought.
Are you using that new regulator? IF so, I wonder if that is your trouble.
I had a chat the other day with someone on these, and it was felt that they werent always that consistent for quality - ie some better than others.
It might be worth chucking the old one back on briefly to see if it goes away.....
Alteratively, if the idle is set incorrectly, the ISCV may be working overtime. Perhaps now it is completely leak free, the Idle speed a touch low?

Hmmm - I seem to recall that this is correct.
Ref TPS - the way you did mine for me was spot on - no probs with that since So given this, I reckon you should be okay to do your own ROFL!
We can plug the IAW in if you like - it will at least tell us what values the ECU is seeing (wont tell you about the lambda though).

Classic ISCV problem.
Does the "surging" stop when the the valve is disconnected ?
It needs a clean (dont use WD40) use a small amount of clean engine oil.
DONT adjust the spring on it either or dismantle the movement.
Proper carb cleaner would be better than oil but oil will do.
Poor the oil in the end and gently push the spring in and out a few times.
Leave for 20 minutes then poor the oil out and try it again.

its weird jj ,cos all the faults i have seem to be tps related.. but the secs shows good readings, and ive set it up as i always have done and ive never had a problem before...
it could be two seperate problems...one being a mixture issue.. it deffo picks up on the lambda surge which to me indicates its to weak for some reason

but there is a adjusting screw on the thottle ...a tiny screw which adjusts the amount the throttle can close

To be fair, I would be surprised if it was TPS related only because when it was on my car, it was perfect in that regard - nice idle at least
Given this, unless you removed it, unlikley to be faulty?

More than happy to help you with bits if you like - you know where I am and my healthy obsession with never ever throwing things out!
Mind you - I am very jealous - my ECU doesnt give a flying fuck what the Lambda sensor tells it!

Right - below is from ford manual
I will email you the whole diagnositc bit if you send me email.
Dont forget that apparently you are meant to load the spring by about 45 deg (IIRC) and let go, and this should set the TPS (fuck knows!)
Hope this helps

NP matey - You have mail....
The TCAs are the absolute bollox arent they!! Now tested at the ring, and couldnt believe it.
More fun was that my mate with his E46 M3 could also not quite believe it!!!!
