ALS and Launch control software will be contained within the calibration Eprom of the Level 8 ECU, thus it will only be available with my own maps on it. It MAY be possible at a later date to incorporate other peoples maps into this software for a price, but i am not currently very happy with the prospect of being the last person to touch a map, so to speak, just in case its garbage and was about to kill something... if you follow?
Wasted spark of course can still be fitted to any ecu regardless of mapper. Just as it always was.
My main point was, with Martoon currently building my engine, and then arranging the mapping side of things for my car all on L8, would there have been the possibility of having the added feature of your software, namely 'Launch Control' added to it!?
Cheers

ALS valve.
ALS throttle body
Those are minimum requirements.
However we will also be able to run perfectly normal idle control valve strategies too if you wish to fit bigger and better bypass valves elsewhere. Unlike the shonky pectel P8 version.

I just yearned for a normal, newer smelling, quiet and comfortable car to drive home in. I am still enjoying that after 15 hard years of Cosworth daily driver...

Thanks to Steve Whittaker and his beautifull 500Bhp 3door, i have a test mule for a week or 2 to complete the project with Nikola and also Simon, as he is helping us with some spark drive related issues.
Sounds like your turning my car into something a bit special We will have to get a few beers sorted soon and lets keep the lap dancers in a job
Cheers Steve

Is the datastream documented so that someone who understands computers and RS-232 can do something with it ?
And as Tabetha said - how about L6 ???

CAN in the right enviroment does rock.
All thats needed is extra inputs added to the existing CPU bus.
2 chips, a few resistors job done.

as i will be ordering coilpack conversion and new chip soon so may aswell wait until your all sorted and get it all together
would the engine loomneed modifying for the extras or is it all in the ecu

I already have a L8 with a MSD Evo chip on my Stg3 2wd, looking to plumb in my ALS T34 turbo and go coil pack/wasted spark anytime now so this is excellent news, would like to get all the parts for the conversion from yourself including any bypass valve etc Cant wait for the coil on plug set up too, is this aimed more at high powererd/motorsport applications or recommended at Stg 3 power? Good news . Mark.

No loom mods needed unless you opt to have ALS in its own bypass housing and retain teh full ISCV strategies.
Coil On Plug doenst really benefit you a great deal over wastyed spark until at very high BHP indeed. (600+) or you are running NOS.
(Nos and WS dont really work well together due to a small inherent risk)

if i was to have anti lag it would just be a mild one tbh
as i dont really want ti fork out for a maram shafted turbo just yet
but thats good know theres no mod to the loom
but what about turning it on and off will just be a switch

Or 2 if you opt to have launch control as well.

Sounds pretty good, Stu!
I wasnt aware that ALS could be switched off so as to speak - so when off, it runs like a normal car then? (well as normal as my cosworth ever manages anyway ROFL!)

A clip of Nikola and friend doing some initial testing the first ALS on an old 8v Delta:

As you can hear, it just pops, this is due to the standard twin silencer system, which eventually gave way....

Another one, this time on a 16v Evo:

Make sure you have a good exhaust as well as a strong turbo!
Personally I think it's great what Nikola can do to a standard ECU and am looking forward to getting the results of his work through MSD over here.

Dare I ask how the traction control works ?
The ECU doesn't see any speed reading does it ? The only thing I can see being related to traction control the ECU would see is RPM
Just being curious
