I got the Leon back on Friday but it's not right. The hissing from the turbo sounds louder than normal and there's fuck all power. I'm thinking possible boost leak? Anyone got any ideas/agree with me?
Further, does anyone know where I should be looking for the boost hose(s)??
Carshaft reckon they are full up with work and can't get me into their service dept til the 15th. Yeah sure.
So I need to sort it before then cause it's frustrating the hell out of me and stopping me from being able to enjoy my car. Oh and can we keep this one civil. If you wanna lay into me, get lost please.
Ta.

I assume you got it back as it has just had some work done ?
just look carefully around what they would have disturbed, then look at all the hoses etc, should nbot be too hard to find as if you can hear the boost it is obviously leaking somewhere.

It's had an engine swap for a like for like replacement, the 180bhp version. The cooler had to be flushed and the turbo replaced. When I first drove it out of the place and got onto the main road, I put my foot down to test her out and I felt a bit of a jerk and the power dropped off, so that suggests to me something either came loose or a hose developed a hole maybe. But I'm just speculating.
With the car being FWD and the engine being position accordingly, I'm finding it hard to get to the turbo at the back of the engine bay. I had a look from underneath and could see a hose connected ok, but the VW boys say there should be two hoses. I can't actually see a point where another hose should be attached so I'm puzzled as it stands.
I'd have gone straight back but I picked her up right before closing

If it was a boost leak large enough to cause a significant power loss you have another engine managment light on.
Just check all the vac pipes on the engine, they break down with heat very quickly.
The '2 hoses' going to the turbo should be vac lines on the actuator. Although some turbos only have the usual one, they may have just left the other dangling and open. Its very unlikley that the main hose has come off the turbo as its bolted on.

Thanks guys will have a look.
There is a hose on the turbo and there's one on the actuator, both appear to be attached fine.
No lights on thank god!

remove the plastic cover for a start...there's a pipe to the right of the engine that goes to the turbo inlet. you also have a pipe going to the intercooler.
another thing to check is the auxillary air device...this is bolted at the front of the engine out of sight at the bottom and the casing is only held together by rivets..which can come loose or fall out altogether.

If you can't find a leak/don't know what you're looking for i'd just take it to an independent garage and get them to look at it. Whatever you do, don't drive it until you know what it is.

Few places worth checking IMO
On the OSF of the car behind the inner arch you'll see the intercooler and the pipes that run round to the back of the engine. If they arent clipped in fully they can pop out under boost.
Also check where the AMM is in relation to the airbox and where that pipe goes afterwards.
As above, the main Turbo outlet (that goes to the cooler) is also somewhere it can break.
Take off the engine palstic cover. Its held on by some screws you only have to turn 90 degrees. then look at the dump valve. Porobably not but if its been thrown together in a hurry maybe they missed tightenting the clips.
Post up some piccys see if it gives anyone else inspirtaion.
