Fully understood, and im sure i wont like the cost either..rolfol
I must say i will be surprised if these connectors are even available anymore

Would ideally need to be like a multipupose harness like a sun scanner?

One universal connector connected to the monitor, with various sub looms that can be plugged into this to then interface it to Pectel, marelli plugs, OBD, KE.. etc etc..

I understand this is the least of your worries and i am of course just typing out my thoughts aloud here

the touch screen, is it a standard VGA screen with USB out for the touchy feely stuff ???

I can see where a 7" one would fit just perfect in my car...

SECS,
markk, Ima-Racing500,

Yawn, the same old people putting me down as usual.

If I didnt know better I would think you were one and the same person with
different user names.

Since you both are comparing this new device with the collins product,
The new SECS monitor is smaller, cheaper, has more functonality such
as data logging and works with more cars and variants such as EEC4, EEC5
and also other makes such as Jap/german cars.

But then it doesnt matter how good it is, I will never be good enough for some
im not putting you down at all , im just evaluating from the 1st pre promotional output you have let us see, you are obviously a very clever bloke in your field and i admire you for that

frog,
The colour touch screen will be available as either a 7 inch or a
10.4 inch monster like mine.
They use TFT active pixel LCD backlit technology that
can be viewed in bright sun light too.
The screen is covered in an anti glare material and is scratch resistant
not to mention water proof.
Plus will include windows sofware that allow WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get)
screen creating by the user using object orientated drag and drop methods.
Connection is either through USB, SERIAL or ETHERNET.
You can use either the pre-defined screens or create all your own upto 200 of them.
It will be VERY easy to use.

I will add again that this product is NOT a PC/LAPTOP of any form but a dedicated piece
of hardware so there will be no silly boot up waiting periods or
windows bugs

and as i read / see more and more about this new product the better it sounds , as spadge says , i too m ust be getting old , but a unit like this to me is for proffesional purposes , i dont do BLING

if stu is happy with this product ( i'll have to borrow his and take it through a forrest rally ) and is as functional as you say then i may well see myself having one also ( tho you prob wouldnt sell me one now ) as ive said in a previous post , the monitor i have now is an improvement in some areas and not in others

Just a thought - thinking out loud....
Could you build in a few additional inputs. The location I am thinking of is the clock/car display area in a sapph, being able to have your display show what the original module shows would be purfect.
Oh, and a clock so I know how early I am getting into work

frog,
The unit has a bulit in clock which can be displayed as a numeric or
an animated analog type with hands that move !
Also, inputs for extra sensors such as oil pressure/temperature and speedo.

(external sensors will be extra cost)

Dave Henshall,
The monitor will be available in either a standard DIN size radio plastic box and
a billet polished aluminum box (may be anodised blue as an option possibly).
This box will be free standing and will be up to the user to find a suitable location.
Or, as some will do, remove it from the case and attempt a custom install.
(May sell as uncased for these people at a slightly reduce price)

Dave Henshall, I am trying to make it a one size fits all style to save
on the number of variations for different models.
I allready sell displays in din cases for the Jap car market and these dont look
too bad in most of the cars.
The design will have a flush and flat front that will be slightly biggger than the apperture
and hopefully this will look good enough.

Yes Phil, its up to the individual.

As for doing the same thing, yes in terms of data monitoring you are right but
mine has more 'proffesional' features (such as data logging)
as well as the bling stuff and so is unique.

Dave Henshall, EVERTHING will be available - fault codes and live data and
if enabled in your chip, the tuning facility (can be disabled for your own safety)

Darrone3dr, I have pictures, just editing a spec sheet which will be published on PF very soon.

MAD matt-sab, Sorry price will be revealed soon.

what do I want a factory ecu in mine for?

Nah I'm trying to decide on engine management systems atm.

I'm having a mediacar system put in the motor anyway with the aim to run GPS and music and bits on, but really want a touch screen engine management display to go with it.

So I'm always open for advice, what would be the best engine management system for a 2.0 Zetec Turbo?
