Default any painters on here? smart repair etc

hiya, ive been painting for a while now but to be honest never really attempted small local repairs, allways been fixing dents and ended up loosing the basecoat and laquering the whole panel, but when it comes to small local repairs never really tried before

whats the advice? ive got a devilbiss sri so hopefully that will be fine

im presuming keeping the primed area to a bare min as possible, keying up most of the surrounding panel

but is it just a case of a keeping the gun to the min pressure and the fan minimal and just light dusting the laquer in??? ie not really bringing it to that swing shine if know what mean

what do you use to get the laquer too dry quickly a infa red?

any advice greatfull

Are you talking about doing local repairs ie bumpers etc? If so you will need some faid out thiners to help blend in will the old laquer. If you give me more details i maybe able to help more.

Dont try and blow in the bonnet mate it will look shit. You will have to paint the whole thing or you will have a nice bright patch of silver. Da the whole bonnet, do any repairs where needed. 2 coats of colour over the repair, then a drop coat to blend it all in. Then 2 coats of laquer and polish, job done!!

Where are you mate? if your close i could give you a hand

To be honest mate, im not sure how they do it! I only do full panels etc. The problem with useing fadeout thinners, ie blow ins, is that if there not done well and polished like fook, they come back and look nasty.

I see it as a cheep alternative to a full panel paint BUT im sure there are very good smart repairers that are shit hot and do a very good job!!

Let us know how you get on mate

these smart repairs all look shit but the reason for the thiners is to thin the laquer right down so it can be easily polished
