Man Uniteds priority was the Premier league though more than ever this year as we've not had it for a while. Myself i also wanted us to get to the cup final due to it being at Wembley again. Never really thought of the UCL.
Is it true you get more now for winning the premiership/tv money than you doing for the champions league? Anyone confirm that? I hope United go for it properly next year though, the semi was kind of unexpected really. Even if it means putting reserve nobodies in both the domestic cups and resting main squad players in the league like Liverpool have done at times. (portsmouth)
You might find Liverpool concentrating mainly on just the premiership next year.

'Football Fans' - my definition.
Lines the pockets of footballers to obscene levels. Feels hatred bordering on the perverse towards other fans, to the extent of actual desiring physical harm.
And for what, for your chosen to team to win 'something' ie. a cup oir league.
This 'something' is nothing tangible (except monetary gain for the club ) .
I used to like football but don't see it's attraction now , still cheer on England though, but don't wish that other footballs fans die and other non-english (or your chosen anti-country) teams to die in a plane crash or somat....so I guess I'm not a true fan anymore

You think that true football fans want other fans to die ?
I just think it's a bit of friendly rivalry, a bit heated at times but nothing a few beers down the local won't put right

The ref was oblivious to him all game (apart from the Utd penalty decision) as he hacked at Ronaldo at least 5 times during the game and didn't even get booked for "continual foul play" against him. His penalty dive was also a shocker.
Best team won today. Nice to see City hold one record tho..even if it is for lowest amount of home goals in a season

I think that so far this season we've taken at least £25m before bonuses and the merchandise sales. Winning it will add AT LEAST another £6m in revenue but it must be noted that bonuses to players/staff will cut down the amount of profit made.

I also read a couple of the points made in those links elsewhere as well, the one about Arsenal getting more than Barcelona who won it and the point about the English clubs getting less than if only one of them got to those stages not 3.
So bascially you will get almost as much from the tv deal alone after being relegated from the premiership next year as you would from almost the entire money together you would make from winning the champions league. £50m from media deals alone if you win the premiership.
Either way it pays to do well in both. I still think its worth some big clubs looking at putting their games on their own channel and getting subscribers. Can't see that paying off for smaller clubs though.

Now you only get every other Euro game and the FA Cup. If you go to the game you pay £ gazillion..and if you want to sit in front of your log fire you still pay £ gazillion for Sky subscription. More if it's on pay-per-view rip-off.
Some clubs already have their own channel anyhow, even if they don't show live games on them and have internet tv too: yet.
