BAILY BREATHER PIPING!
I have recently purchased a baily breather for my 2wd cozzy and i know where the pipes go to (as shown on pic). I have a sump that has a take off pipe in the bottom of the sump (pic below) ! So my question is, the pipe that goes to the atmosphere, can this be fitted to the takeoff pipe in the sump or will this stop the breather from doing its job???? Ive heard that the atmosphere pipe can go to a catch tank and the catch tank can be directed to the sump!!! Isnt this the same sort of set up????

1 - is the oil return, which I'd pipe to return to sump
2 - to the blanked off breather port on the exhaust side.
That way you breathe from both sides of the block, and don't have to drill and tap your rocker cover, and you're returning oil to the sump.
EDIT: too slow

These were the instructions from baily! didnt think baily would get it wrong??? The breather on the inlet gets blanked off according to them!

Follow this advice... its by far the better way
no2 to exhaust side in block
no3 to kidney box
no4 to atmosphere
and blank off inlet breather, and not bother putting any to rocker cover??

That's how mine and a lot of others have plumbed in theirs. The inlet breather - I'm taking that to mean the pipe that went from the kidney box to the airbox? (that is redundant as you're piping the kidney box to the oil seperator/breather) That's a major point of having a better breather - you don't want oily vapour being digested by the engine, as that can lead to detonation and increased blow by - hence it's vented to atmosphere or a catch tank.
I'm not 100% about the size of your oil return in the sump, but can't remember how big it is on mine, and aren't in a position to crawl under my car.
There's a lengthy post about oil breathers, but it's probably in a Gold Member area.
And as TiB said, it's not that Bailey are 'wrong' they just go for a simple setup as most people don't have suitable sump fittings, and returning the oil to sump below oil level, is a better solution if you have that option.
EDIT: Some more info here, although some pic's are missing.

Can't find the other lengthy debate at the moment
