Default Red key?!

Never got a red key with my car when i bought it, is there anyway of getting a replacement, its a 98 escort si?

i pretty sure they do it by changing everything , locks / ignition / immobiliser etc so its not going to be cheap

No they dont. It will need to go to fords to be re-programmed, my gf was quoted almost 100 notes for a new red key and for it to be programmed

find a local locksmith , they do them as i have key programming gear for all makes , i charge 35 quid plus key

tools to ask for is ad100

or mvp

whats special about the red one? i use the red one for my missus escort, if it's special i might just get a shitty normal one cut and use that

red is master and used to program others but u usually need 2 keys including the red 1 to do it, keys from ford are 18.73 each red or black cut to number

i have the programmer and i charge 35 plus to code to vehicle

our lot round here charge about 150 plus vat for 3 keys coded at ford

Cheers mate, found a red key on ebay 10quid and cut to code, found someone local who will programme it for £25quid! Sorted

Or you can remove the internals of the key and strap them inside your ignition cowling near the barrel....then whenever you use any key it will believe its accepting the red key cheapest method i've found yet.

Or if its got an alarm you can use the output off of that to triger the locking.

my gf's 2000 X reg escort should have a red key. They dropped using them with the focus and later mondeos came about
